If we had the same deal as the dungpile and Poly (football Big Sky, rest of sports Big West) this could never happen.

I wish. What doesn't make sense is how the points will be distributed for the Causeway Cup. I am really ashamed of our men's basketball program.
Those points are going down as forfeiture in my book. No excuse for not having this game, period. :coffee:

I said the same last night to some other alums. Not like we could count on those points when we actually played the game!

The Causeway Cup points for Men's Basketball will be omitted. This happened several years ago when the former Davis track coaches pulled out of the annual dual meet which decided the Cup in their favor.
These Causeway contests are important and positive for both schools. The commitment to continue the series needs to come from the administrations, not decided by a idiot loser coach trying to keep his job.

That year also is a forfeiture imo. Simply pulling out of a rivalry to spare themselves embarrassment is no reason to let them off the hook. Shameful.

Point is, unless both schools commit to compete in all sports they both field the Causeway Cup is bogus.

Really does diminish the fairness of the all sports trophy. Sac State has caputured 10 points in mens basketball and now that is not possible this year.. Was so looking forward to that big game at home with our improving b ball team.

I see where we only play Weber in Ogden this year...no home game against the Wildcats..also UCD is traveling to Greeley to play UNC but can't come across the causeway to play the Hornets.. I hope the Bears wipe the gym floor with them

The ultimate responsibility for letting Les get away with this is on his boss, the AD. Les apparently does not understand or care about competition, rivalry . His priority seems to be a desperate effort to keep a job that he has failed at. At least Volek or Moosh never tried to pull anything this selfish and stupid during their football struggles.

You are all more than welcome to come over to our board and voice your displeasure. I think this is one thing we can all agree on.

Yup, it would have taken one short statement from their AD to Les to make sure this rivalry stayed intact. Poor form by all those involved. Just shows how much they value this rivalry. Pathetic. This rivalry probably won’t be resumed until Les is gone…probably shouldn’t be resumed until he is gone. WAFJ. :ohno:

Hopefully we can play next year after Les is shown the door.

Well, it is official we are not playing each other this year. The release blamed facility availability and scheduling conflicts aka "Blame Sac State". IMO, it is completely inexcusable to not play the game but also to throw you guys in front of the bus.

Due to scheduling conflicts and facility availability, UC Davis and Sacramento State will not compete against one another this season. However, the Causeway Cup hiatus is going to be brief, with both head coaches planning to schedule additional games in the near future.

"It is unfortunate that we are unable to play at Sacramento State this year and look forward to resuming the series next season with games scheduled on each campus," said Les.

Coaches from both teams are also interested making a home-and-home rivalry series an annual event starting with next year's games.

"scheduling conflicts and facility availability"???
Les dumped Sac and Portland, (two teams on the rise), to schedule a home and home with Eastern Illinois. He saw two losses and squirmed out of the games.
Embarrassing.

When will Sac State release their non-conference schedule!? They are really taking their sweet time on this...and btw, we need a home & home series against UOP, the other D1 team in the region! :coffee:

In case you haven't heard, this is the 2014-2015 Men's schedule, and it is a complete joke. I was expecting Coach Katz to challenge his best roster in school history by scheduling some difficult non - conference games. But wow...I'm disappointed to the least. :thumbdown: :ohno: http://www.hornetsports.com/sports/mbkb/2014-15/releases/20140815o7w3kp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
