2014-2015 Basketball Schedule

Didn't know where to put this, but I thought you guys would be happy to hear that when you play UND in Grand Forks this year, the game will be shown on Fox Sports North Plus. I believe you guys can get this on most tv sports packages, as FSN is like Root.

Nice...even if we don't get the feed, we will be able to get a better online feed because FSN is doing the game. Kinda like NAU home games when Fox Arizona does their games. It is a far cleaner feed. I wish Weber had more of a connection to get on TV. We will see.

Cat's don't have to visit the Nest or Stott next year (there goes their two biggest games of the season), but the No Names and the Cubbies don't get the privilege of having a return visit to the Dee either.

To me I think that is the biggest thing that stands out. The hornets may be the second best team in the league and we only play them at home. I don't think UND will be very good. The cubbies will be middle of the road.

I guess having the Big Sky headquarters in Ogden does count for something. 2 of the top teams only get one game against Weber at altitude. You have to admit that looks more than coincidental. Can't wait to see what Fullerton did with Montana's schedule.

I had to go back and reply to this. Right now it looks like the Eastern Washington/Idaho travel trip is going to be the most difficult swing in the conference. So much for the home cooking we get with the Big Sky headquarters being down the road. We have to play at Eastern right out of the gate on January 1st. That road swing is going to be a doozy as Eastern looks like the team to beat and Idaho can make a strong argument for being in the top 5.

1. I don't think I would consider PSU one of the top teams in the conference. At least right now.
2. NAU, Eastern, Montana and Northern Colorado also could have made a similar claim if they were in Sacs shoes. One of the travel pairs had to come to Ogden without a return visit to their gym. Unfortunately it was Sac and PSU.
3. UNC & UND are feeling like lottery winners knowing that they don't have to play at the DEE this season. Will you cry foul when it is your turn to catch that break?

I had to bring this up again also.....what do hyou think of Portland St now???

I believe beating USC on the road goes further than beating Nevada on a neutral court.....thats what I believe....not all world, I didn't even mention all world......I just wondered if 02 still thought PSU wasn't one of the top teams in the Big Sky......OK????

They have beaten a really bad USC team and a team that lost to Portland by 20 two days earlier took them to overtime and they have a W over a cream puff. As for Eastern Washington, big win over Indiana but Indiana hasn't really looked to great either. I'll take any W over any DI team though. I don't care how good the teams are.

Too early to tell. Yeah they're 3-0, but 1 win was a non-D1, and 1 was an overtime win over a bad SIU-Edwardsville team that is now 1-3 (win was over a non-D1) and was 11-20 last season. The USC win was good, but USC is a team full of freshman and sophomores that was picked to finish 10th in the conference.

And Nevada was picked to finish 8th and USU 10th in the MWC also....this can go on forever if we want to go back to posts months ago....do you really want me to dig up some of the purple kool-aid posts???? Lets agree to disagree and see how it shakes out.....I didn't bring up history first, one of your best posters did...

First of all, I would not consider myself to be one of our best posters.

Secondly, I think PSU has the second best win of the non-conference. I didn't see the game so I am not sure how good they looked, but I will take a win over any Pac-12 school any day. It is really early to make too many assumptions, but I know that I watched a good Eastern team last night. If the conference had 3 tiers of 4 teams, I would put Eastern, NAU, Idaho & PSU in the top tier. That may change if Idaho gets blasted at home to Boise tonight. I think Sac St, Weber, Montana are in the middle tier. UNC and UND have only won against non D1. ISU, MSU and SUU are all win-less.

Besides win/loss record you have to look how teams play against good talent. NAU has played some tough teams close on the road. I like the schedule Eastern has put together and it is really tough too. Weber has played some decent teams but hasn't looked good. With Sacs schedule, I am not sure that we will be able to get a good read on how good they are until conference begins. They didn't look good against the zags, but few teams in our league would.

I consider you to be one of the most unbiased, reasoned posters on this board hence "one of the best posters". So far, I think your reasoning is fairly dead on. I agree with your tiered assessment. I did see the Portland St/USC game and they played really well. Since then Biembe hasn't played as well but I don't think his performance at USC was an anomaly either. Even die hard Weber fans should appreciate your objectivity and reasoning on this board. Keep up the good work. I wasn't upset with your post but N.OgdenCat didn't need to be snarky and say nothing with his post. You have answered my question as I knew you would, honestly and with some thought, not just heart felt feelings.

With all due respect, now that this touching moment is over, Webergrad.....you dropped Weber a long way in light of Rahe's penchant for starting slow and finishing strong. What's missing in comparison to prior years?

Also like to get Old's perspective on the season so far...... Realize it's not time to panic, but are we as bullish on the season as we were a month ago? If I had to give out grades I'd have Weber at a C- right now, but still lots of potential for improvement!

you can rank on potential before the games start but after the games are played you rank on results....

I agree with that grade. You can see that once the Cats get into a rhythm and start gelling that they could end up being pretty good. I like what Utah Pirate said a bit ago. Maybe this season is as much about next season as it is about this season. Meaning--Weber is preparing for next year as much as they are playing for this year. What we get from this team this season, should be so much more next season. But, I'm not not condoning throwing in the towel. I've decided to enjoy the season and just realize that the team is developing and slowly becoming better.

I don't like the whole starting slow/the season really starts in January mentality. The composure i saw from Senglin and Gittens towards the end of last year gave me alot of hope that this seasons transition would be more smooth than we have seen. Most years we don't struggle at both ends of the floor out of the gate. I also tend to be overly optimistic before the season starts. I can't remember a Rahe coached team that averaged this few assists. I am concerned but we will improve. Based on the body of work we have seen so far, I can't list us as one of the top teams in conference.

But it really is hard to tell who the top teams are this early in the season. We all but crowned the cubbies kings of the conference last year in December. Then they struggled to make the conference tournament. Lat night both Idaho and NAU did not look great. We have a good test at home on Monday so that may give us a good measuring point.

FWIW when we played Gonzaga, our best player McKinney was held out for disciplinary reasons. It wouldn't have changed the winner but it may have changed how lop-sided the score ended up. Since then he has averaged 17.7pts, shooting 64%, 55%, and 88% with 3 rbs, 4.7 assists, 1 TO, and 1.7 ST per game. He couldn't have hurt our performance up there.
