2014 Attendance

Considering there's very few students in town, I think those numbers are just fine.

The student turnout was shockingly impressive. I don't know if we've ever had a student turnout like that before school starts.

Even more impressive considering classes don't start for another month.

Sounds like there was a great crowd. Could not tell on TV as ESPN did not show many shots of the various bleachers.

Not much of a crowd on here. About a baker's dozen. Why not go over to egriz and join all the other Eagle fans,

EWURanger, I see you took my suggestion. You are over on egriz as I post this. There is always more fun and action on the mainline, instead of spending time on a lonely railroad siding.

So what team are you going to be rooting for next weekend? Judging by your username, you seem a little confused.

"MTcowpoke", must be lonely being either a fan of a team in decline or a team that just flat out sucks. Even more depressing if you are a fan of both.

F this is awesome!!!
what is the deal with our school not bringing in more bleachers and getting the gateway project going? SOOOOO bloodddyyy frustrating. I bet we could maybe get 15K for Montana if they roll in as a top 5 team.

I think Eastern and Montana would sell out Albi this year. I think our all-time high was 17,200 there. Mi pretty sure it would be filled over with this enthusiasm.

If the Gateway Project is still looking like something for the "indefinite future" instead of a scheduled project, it might make sense to pull the trigger on getting 5,000 erector-set style bleachers on the East Side (akin to what Sac State uses). At least that would dramatically increase seating and improve sight lines; my guess would be about $200k.

This.

It's a crime that we are literally turning away interested fans. I know several who wanted to come yesterday but didn't because we were sold out. :ohno:

I watched the MSU/Sac St game last night, and I think what we're both talking about would be quite a bit more than 200k, but still something I think would be workable. My guess is maybe a couple million?

These are very much like our endzone seating, and would probably add around 7,000 in seating to do one side.

I don't think modular construction in aluminum is all that expensive. I'm not even talking abut having two tiers, just the simplest thing possible. Plus, you can sell it back when completed.

I think as alumni and fans, we should be making this point to the university. I want the Gateway as much as anyone else, but the "silent phase" is nearing it's third year and we clearly have a President worth questioning as far as athletics go. We NEED to take what we can get at this point and if that means scaling down the renovation to 7,000 more seats on the east side, then we need to accept that.

What can we do as alumni/fans to make that known?

Well, only one tier in that configuration wouldn't be much different than what's there now, except a little higher. I personally think we need at least 6,000 more seats to accommodate the crowds we have now, and provide a little room for growth. They could put the bleachers that are there now on the soccer field, etc. I really feel like this is the way to go for right now from a cost perspective and meeting a simple goal of getting more seats.

Email the AD, President, Student Council, and BOT. It is imperative that we get to 15,000 seats in the next few years.

Awesome. I'm still amazed as to the change in the Gameday atmosphere year by year. During the Sam st. game, there were several obscure lots that were packed for tailgating.

A sellout crowd of 11,256 – the third-largest in school history – were on hand. - from EWU release.

Seriously who would have ever thought this would happen vs. ISU the perennial doormat of the BSC?
Those type of numbers are usually for Montana and MSU.
Please bring in as many bleachers as you can for the Montana game!!!
