2014 Recruit Update?

Looks like Zach Braxton is a double double machine and having some fantastic stat lines.

According to a tweet Jerimiah Jefferson has a cast on his left hand. I couldn't see any stats for him.

These are the only two I think have a realistic chance of seeing the court next year.

Braxton looks like the real deal -- physically and statistically. Will be fun to watch him play -- except against the Bengals. :-D

Jefferson broke a finger a while back. He is due to return this week.

Richardson and Hunter have been doing very well I don't have exact stats, but several games over 20 points for both of them.

I wouldn't venture a guess as to who might be immediate impact players next year. They all have the potential to do it and there is a lot of time between now and then.

There could also be one additional player signed in the spring or summer. If there is a signing in the spring, you can bet that they are an impact type of player. Otherwise, there is no reason to sign anyone. :coffee:

Braxton is putting up great stats and seems well regarded. His shooting, blocks, and assists are all improving each year, however, is there any reason to worry about his turnovers and personal fouls being up significantly?

Jefferson's two and three point shooting percentages are down significantly and his TOs and PFs are also up, but his FT%, assists, rebounds, steals, and blocks are all up.

It's still a long time before they may be on the court for the Wildcats, I hope both are immediate impact players, especially Braxton where we are losing Tres :-(

I read on a high school forum that he's actually bringing up the ball against the press and playing point forward as they are missing a point guard. He has not fouled out of a game this season. He's tops in the state of Colorado 5a for Rebs and blocks and is shooting 66% from the field. He's 4-5 from the 3 pt line and hitting 70% from the free throw line. He is leading his team in assist, scoring (20 ppg) Rebs and blocks!

All the stats are on Maxpreps. The 5a division is the tops in Colorado.

Nominations for the McDonalds All American game out this morning!

Congratulations to those players. That is a really nice recognition of their talents and hard work. It is also a nice confirmation of the caliber of player we are recruiting to WSU.

Did Ohio nominate every HS player in their state.

That is a nice article. It certainly looks like we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg with Braxton. He just may develop into a real monster for our program. Sounds like a great person as well. :thumb: :thumb:

Ryan Van Pelt should be home in mid-May. He has put on some weight and is somewhere around 230 lbs. and may have grown a little bit, perhaps an inch?

I am looking forward to seeing Ryan develop. I think that he is going to be a lot like Saun Campbell was for us a few years back. Sometimes, big men take a little longer to develop than guards. Ryan is a smart young man and has the right attitude. I think the up side for Ryan is quite high. How much he will be able to do the first or second year after his mission is uncertain, but I am hoping that he can contribute a lot. It sounds like he is maturing nicely and I am pulling for him to have a great career. :thumb: :thumb:

wow! aT 6'9" AND 245...CAN WE GET HIM ON THE d LINE? We will finally be able to stop the run cold in its tracks. :) HaHa. I am very excited to get a recruit of this caliber. It sounds like he has his head and his heart in the game. Playing with passion makes all the difference.

I'm going to say this now...Zach Braxton is a far better recruit than Utah's Brekkot Chapman.

Not that we have talked a lot about him, but Hayden Hunter is quietly having himself a good SR year.

Just checked out somethings this morning. Had some time, why not? Anyway, check out his rebounds, assists, blocks, and TOs. Also, not overwhelming, but still pretty cool, he is 4-5 from 3pt land.

This kid is going to play a lot as a freshman. 17.3 points per game, 13.3 rebounds per game, 3.5 assists per game, 3.7 blocked shots per game, 2.9 assist to turnover ratio, etc. This kid is a great passer, shoots a high percentage, rebounds, and plays defense. What more could we want. With those stats, he would be the second best passer on our team right now. I can't wait to see him in action.

He'll have his "3" license in no time ;-)

I am looking forward to seeing Zach in purple next year. From what I've read about him he seems to have lots of skills. Would like to see that FT % improve. Up to 66% this year, over 55% last year.

I would too, but can accept a lower FT% from a big much easier than a guard. It's the coaches job to make sure the ball is in the hands of the better FT shooters at the end of a close game and that's where it matters most. What stood out to me when I've browsed his stats is that every statistic trend is up from year-to-year. Maybe it should be for a good HS player but the numbers seem to support how good he's supposed to be.

I'm very excited to see Brax in the mix with Senglin, Joel, (an improved) Hill, and the rest next season. I sure hope Rahe & Co. can get next year's team comfortable with each other quickly and be ready to compete by the "Paradise Jam". I'm trying to make that trip happen
