Anyone know how recruiting is going? We have about a month until signing day and I haven't seen or heard of any commits yet. BTW, with threads about racism, throwing upper classmen under the bus, etc, let's hope no recruits read this message board (Although we all know they do!).
 
We can only hope that the recruits, and their families, as smart enough to see through the ex-players and parents claiming racism because they, or their kid, did not get the playing time that they felt they were entitled to. Go Bears!
 
Lane Scott a DT from Oklahoma committed yesterday. He had an offer from Tulsa.
No other updates on recruiting? Two weeks left until signing day.
 
You guys are fucking idiots... You think ex players come on here and just put this stuff out there because we didn't get enough playing time. I started almost every game of my career. Collins is a racist. Thats a fact. You obviously choose not believe the first hand accounts from several different players and that fine, but don't act like you have a fucking clue whats actually going on.

I see the level of civil discourse has continued to lean toward profanity and ad hominem attacks... Stay classy UNC. I will check back in a few months after our mediocre basketball season is over. Hopefully the children on the board will have grown up some by then....

What a terribly designed message board, holy cow. Anyways, seems like a good class overall. Anyone know what position Marquise Davis will play? I haven't had a chance to look him up.
 
The Keaton Torre signing is interesting. Two questions pop up...
1. Why did this kid drop from BYU to UNC? (maybe the BYU coaches got wind of the news story below)
2. He is listed as a pro style QB. Normally that means he is a little slower than the option/spread QB. We'll see. But on another note...
I found an interesting article about Torre's mother that may explain why the family moved from Oklahoma to Utah...

It appears that she stole $15,000 from a high school cheer booster club to "help advance her son's football career." I can only hope that Keaton's mother starts posting on this message board.
The only thing missing from the UNC football program is Coach Hayden Fox and his assistant, TE Coach Dauber. Is it my imagination, or is the UNC FB program fast becoming the Detroit Lions of the FCS? Wow. His mom comes out horrible in that story. As far as Keaton landed at UNC? I have no idea. He was offered by Louisville, and BYU. He made the commitment to BYU, but that offer may not have stood with the new coaching staff. From some blog post I read that it came down to either UNC or SUU.

As for Dauber and Hayden Fox, I'm not seeing the connection? Love the show, always one of my favorites from the 80s.
 
Interesting for sure. It's always troublesome when a parent comes unhinged and the kid had to wear Keaton may prove to be a first class young man and Bear (you have to hope so). While it's difficult, it's not up to us to judge based on video of a teenage argument. This might be a good place for Keaton to define himself outside of his mom's shadow.

I agree. It will be good for him to get away from Utah and I hope people don't judge him by the actions of his mom (who clearly loves him very much but is apparently a horrible decision maker).
 
Does anybody have a spouse who will buy something because it is on sale or a good value, even though they do not need it? Unfortunately that may be what the coaching staff (Boyer) did when they signed Torre.
 
Desperate is right. Boyer was in dire need of a QB and not to receive a commitment on signing day would have been a huge embarrassment. Last year we were headed into spring with 4. Newsom graduated, Berglund left, leaving Knipp and Sloter. Sloter was never brought up to speed as a QB last season, because they wanted him to play receiver. During exit interviews, Sloter was told he would not be given the opportunity to challenge for the QB job. they even listed him in the Spring article as a QB/WR.
