2017 Recruiting Class

Looks like a really tough kid who could play safety or outside line backer. Good pick up for the cats. :thumb: :thumb:

Westlake High School Utah
As a long-time neighbor and former Young Men's leader I want to let you know that Shamon will be a great addition to Weber State. As a fan, I wasn't quite sure after his Junior season that he was division I material, but he really shined as a Senior. He baled out a lackluster Westlake team on many occasions with timely interceptions and big plays. I wish him well, and hope to see him play against UND (and several other teams) for years to come.

I like what I see, he's fast, accurate, good arm and can throw on the run really well.

He isn't a speedster. He has less than TE speed. However, he looks big and strong. He will have a chance, but don't get your hopes set on an immediate impact. I'd like nothing more than to have a guy step in and take over, but that is the least likely thing to happen. #Reality

I think Kaden has a great chance of stepping in right away personally. Clark was pretty bad last year and they didn't really give any of his backups a chance to play that says a lot to me.

I hate to say this, but Kaden reminds me a lot of a previous Wildcat QB, but slower (he does seem to have a better and more accurate arm). Good heavens, Kaden could be Jadrian's brother. But...at the end of the day Jadrian was a fairly proficient QB for the Cats. With Jadrian starting our team improved each season. He was a fighter and no matter how big the hole was, he kept playing hard. So, if Kaden is somewhat like Jadrian that is fine with me.

Next season we do have a couple of QB's who can vie for the starting role. I think Cantwell is the guy now, but Shaw wasn't really part of the equation since he was red shirting due to summer injury last season (that's what I heard at least). Bradshaw has, once again, left the team and there is the kid from Lone Peak; he might have beat out Bradshaw at the 3rd string last season. Also, Weber gets back Zach Hymas from Moapa Valley (along with a number of other guys...I wonder how many actually come back). That makes 5 QB's on the roster. To me the battle will be between Cantwell and Shaw.

Hey talhadfoursteals if Clark had a stronger more accurate arm he would have been a good QB let's be honest the defense carried us most of last year. I am not sure if Jenks will be the starter right away but he looks really good on tape. I like cheeseburger running the ball but I would prefer a pocket QB that can scramble to just a running QB. We haven't gotten to see much of Shaw but he was really slight definitely have to worry about that in my opinion.

Sas; I am sure that Jenks will get the same chance as all of the candidates for the position. I hope he gets here early, for spring ball, because that would give him the best chance. If he gets here in the summer, he will already be behind. It is not easy for anyone to come right out of high school and compete at our level.

They call them highlight videos for a reason. They don't include any lowlights. Don't put too much stock in a highlight video.

I understand they are highlight videos but the kid has a great arm and accuracy. He has started since he was a freshman and won back to back state titles I can guarantee you that no other QB on our roster has that. I like Shaw but the kid seem to be hurt a lot in high school and at Weber. I do understand it is a big jump up from high school to FCS but seeing the QBS throwing last year Clark was really all we had I think Cantwell is a good runner but is inconsistent throwing the ball. I don't want to run down the other QBS but it is what I have seen that worries me

 After last season, and now with Clark gone, you make a valid observation on the QB situation with all the question marks existing there, it's a hopeful addition with Jenks. Hope he adds some strong competition in that position. It is needed. :coffee:

I'm not saying that he doesn't have those qualities. I'm just saying that I have seen no proof of it yet. Please dig up some accuracy stats for me, or some arm strength stats. How far can he throw it? What is his completion percentage? How many interceptions did he throw? All of that would tell me more than a highlight video. :coffee:

Old runner I found stats on his junior and senior year
Junior stats are 68% completion 2734 yards 45 pass tds 2 ints, 9 rushing tds 303 yards
Senior stats are 62% completion 2506 yards 36 pass tds 7 ints, 15 rushing tds 546 yards
They played one less game his senior also and I couldn't find anything on his arm strength but it looks very strong on his highlight reel. Also they won his last 27 games that is a winner and someone we definitely need
