2017 Recruiting

Kniffin, had one season left. He clearly showed his career was over. Graduated and he is finished. We have had two Different O Line coaches. So called big time with both having NFL experience. One thing about the offense they were able to run the ball towards the end of the season.

Kniffen could have gotten a medical redshirt this year but chose not to ... That would have given him 2 years left ... Who cares about nfl experience if it does not translate on the field now ... Kniffen, cassel with 3 surgeries, and merker all were mauled over the past 2 seasons ... Especially this season ... Remember Fresno and nd and Montana ... Cassel was crushed vs weber and merker vs northern Colorado

Kniffen only played during the fourth quarter of Davis - game 11 - Which was after his senior day and his decision has been made. Had he decided to medical he wouldn't of played in Davis game and therefore been cleared for another year.

He also played in one of the home games, Portland State I think when K-Ham needed to go out.
Clearly not his old self, not fit to play. I thought that he had a lot of potential before he got hurt. I wish him health and success in the future.

Had a chance to talk to some administrators and they said football is now at 63 scholarships. The school has operated off 59. That is an extra 4.

But no resources though…

Big class, hopefully some of these players pan out over the next few years.

Breakdown by position: (HS/JC-FBS) – Non-SRs currently on roster
QB: 4 (2/2) - 5
RB: 4 (3/1) - 2
WR: 3 (3/0) - 10
TE: 2 (2/0) - 6
OL: 3 (3/0) - 15
DL: 5 (5/0) - 16
LB: 3 (3/0) - 9
DB: 5 (3/2) – 15
P/K/LS: 0 - 6

Total: 29 (24/5) - 84

The 63 scholarships can be split between 85 players, anything above that will be walk-on/non-scholarship or gray shirt. With what is currently on the roster and the new recruits, that’s 113 players. 92 players were on the ’16 roster.

Well, I am sure there are others. Keeping a whole recruiting class from start to finish is very unlikely for any program. I believe the stat is like 50%
