In some interesting news 247 sports does a composite rating, taking all the different websites that do ratings and average them out. I see EWU is ranked #136 which is pretty good, but the biggest shock is CENTRAL WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY is ranked #149. With their push to improve the athletic facilities how long until they are out recruiting us? By far an away the best D2 class

YIKES that is a great point! I still think we will out recruit them, but it will put a squeeze on things even more.

Keep in mind, you can get kids into D2 schools that you can't get at D1. The requirements are different. Back when Portland State was D2, they had a boatload of guys that were academic non-quals at D1 schools. The biggest question mark is how many of those guys actually wind up qualifying and then playing? Eastern rarely- very rarely- goes in on a Prop kid. In the rare instances we've got one, I can't even remember the last one that actually got himself eligible and played a single down. There was a DB that played sparingly a couple years back. But for an impact player, you'd be going back a decade or so, at least for football...

Neither were Prop 48 kids to the best of my knowledge. Both were with the team in their first year.

The last one I remember was a defensively lineman from Oregon who never played. The biggest one was the RB out of NorCal who was supposed to be a stud, but also never played. Both of those were a few years back.

Taiwan Jones http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2010/dec/01/taiwan-jones-unwanted-except-ewu/ was and a great article about him and his success while at EWU. My oldest boy has dyslexia as well and it was comforting to know that my school takes care of students who struggle with it.

At the time, I don’t think a partial qualifier and a non-qual were the same thing. I believe they are now. So at the time, I don’t believe Taiwan Jones would’ve been considered a Prop 48 kid.

Granted, I’m no expert on these things... so take it for what it is worth.

Adding to Hansen’s elation was the fact he had learned of Jones’ dyslexia and was ready to petition the NCAA to consider Jones’ learning disability and allow him to enroll at EWU in the fall of 2007 as a partial academic qualifier, which it eventually did.

“That allowed Taiwan to practice his freshman year,” Hansen explained, “and when we moved him to scout team offense, he just tore us up.”
So he was allowed to practice but could not play until he displayed Academic progress.

Was thinking this would be a good recruiting tool for some. EWU #4...good company. I know I did my fair share of enjoying the outdoors when there.

I don’t believe true Prop 48’s are allowed to practice their first year. In fact, I don’t believe that they’re allowed any contact with the team whatsoever.

hmmm, unless I missed someone looks as if that huge list for both off/def don't include any that have EWU after their name. Must not be EKG's...and that's ok.

I've noticed that we have had 3 commits the past few weeks but none of them are on twitter. Scorebook Live just posted that Brandon Montoya was offered a full scholarship and commited. He is from Lyle Wishram HS a 1B HS he's 5'8" 190 Lbs.

I'm watching his films and he is averaging over 20 yards a carry. I get that he is playing at the 1B level but he apparently is a track champion and has interest from several large colleges to participate in track.

https://scorebooklive.com/washington/2019/11/01/behind-monstrous-numbers-1b-lyle-wishram-standout-running-back-brandon-montoya-commits-to-eastern-washington/?fbclid=IwAR3J4gfPCYBFwoQLd8F5mSmEwASNMkrJNe2Sih1bKEzMKp7x2XdazNpcm8k

Curious who the other commits are?

We are losing a LOT of experience on the O-line. I don't know anything about redshirts or underclassmen but hope Jase and Aaron are winning some O-line battles.
