Well done.

Not the best half of the season on offense. I hope to see the second half trend continue.

Defensively I thought it was our best. Unfortunately, they've done a great job at rattling Gubrud.

I think it's safe to say that was definitely the best half of the season for the D. Montana has really only had two sustained drives.

It's hard to be too upset being up at half with the way our offense started the game. Let's get some things figure out and roll 'em in the second.

So far:

Montana has looked strong and aggressive on defense. They are CONSTANTLY in Gubrud's face. How you beat this is with the deep ball, making the defense back off. It is working and our offensive coordinators are really figuring out how to beat Montana's defense. Things are starting to click. Props to Montana by holding back the monster for the first quarter.

Major props to the EWU defensive coordinators. They took the exact opposite strategy I thought they would against Montana. This is why I won't ever coach anything higher than middle school . I thought we would play a lot like Montana, bringing the pressure all day long. However, we are leaving the pressure up the the defensive line and using our secondary to suck the life out of Montana's deep threats. Montana doesn't have the skill our players have, but they have the ability to take off if they get the space. Keep swarming to the ball and taking away all of the big plays and Montana has to take a LOT of small attempts. Montana is shooting themselves in the foot, because they don't have the skill to be consistent like the Eagles.

I'm so amped right now. Is halftime over yet?

Both defenses have played really well.

Definitely. I don't think any defense we've faced this season has been able to hold us the way they have. We've gotten a couple of explosive plays, but for the most part they've done a good job of holding Kupp and Co. in check.

Exactly. When our receivers are in one on one situations, they HAVE to make the play.
