#4 Weber State v. #22 North Dakota

Another opportunity for Weber to solidify their shot at a playoff seed. This game and the Idaho State game shape up to be the two toughest tests we have on the road.

This should be a really good game. Liking UND's chances in a defensive battle. It's a good time for Weber to be heading to Grand Forks, though, because about 7k fans will be in Vegas for a hockey game. Not sure what attendance is going to look like.

Time to prove we deserve to be ranked # 4 in the nation. The offense is going to have to step up big time this weekend. Both teams play physical defense so once again points might come at a premium. We may also need a score or two from our special teams units. Unlike Montana State, North Dakota has a fully armed and operational offense and since their loss at home to Idaho State, they have scored 38 in their win over UNC, 41 in their win over Montana (thanks in a large part to UND's defense) and 41 in their win @ Sacramento State (a game in which they turned the ball over 3 times.) Defense is going to have to step up to the plate again. But they could get a lot of help from our offense if they can sustain drives, score points and take care of the ball.

Gonna be a tough one guys, but it can be done.

GO WILDCATS!

In order to win the game, we are going to need our most complete performance yet. North Dakota is ranked #22, but they are playing like a top 10 team.

The defense is going to need to be lights out as always, and the offense must take care of the ball. Even with the hockey fans in Vegas, it can get loud in these little domes, so the team a coaches should be ready for a hostile crowd. If we don’t turn the ball over, we win!

This year is one in which a lot of good teams are losing. If we win out, a number 4 seed or even higher is almost certain. That’s what makes this game and all the rest so important. One more loss would likely cost us a bye and two home games.

I really doubt the defense would be affected by loud fans and the offense isn't good enough for it to be much of a factor.

Keys to a win will be:
1) The D showing up right out of the gate, no slow start in locking it down. I still have my worries vs teams with a solid and balanced offense.
2) QB play is going to have to be as good as it can be which I hope we haven't seen yet this season. Shaheed and Denby MUST be part of some offensive balance, Davis and Garrett, too, out of the backfield. O-Line needs a great effort in this one.
3) Special teams needs to add their impact to this game. Why has Tuttle seemed to have taken a step backwards this year?

I'm very nervous about this one, I hope Weber can prove they are the top 10 team of this matchup.

Not feeling good about this one.

The QB job is solely Constantine’s now so hopefully he has a bit more confidence without having to worry about getting yanked in and out of the game. The receivers need to help him out and eliminate the drops. It was good to see Malone with a big catch up the seam Vs MSU, hopefully he can give Constantine a consistent option in the middle of the field. I also liked seeing Constantine throw a couple short passes to the RBs. Shaheed needs to be more involved in the game plan. He should get at least 1 deep target every game and I would like to see him running some jet motions to stretch the defense horizontally with the goal of opening up more creases for Davis and Garrett.

Ultimately, the offense needs to stop giving the ball away and leaving the defense with short fields. No reason to believe that will happen though.

Anyone know who is the #2 QB now that Jenks is out?

Might have to have him game ready in case of another start like last Saturday.

Have a bad feeling about this game. Travel is insane and a 1 pm start time to boot.

Offense cannot afford to commit turnovers and need to limit three and outs. I’m not a believer in our offensive scheme. Defense can easily stack the box. Our offense has to rely on big plays. ND is really good on defense. I hope I am wrong, but I think 26-17 on the short-side.

Looking at their stats, this team is a run heavy team, much like MSU. The keys to this game will be quite similar to MSU as well. We will need to contain their run game and force them to do what they don't want to. However, their passing attack is a bit more effective than MSUs. Defensively, they give up a lot of yards as well. I would say that this team is better than MSU, but not as good as EWU. I would feel better about it if this game was in Ogden, but it is what it is. Our guys just need to take care of business. I predict a hard fought game. :coffee:

Depth chart has been posted.

Braden Miles is the new back up QB
Daryl Denby is now listed as a starter at WR
Jared Scheiss and Jayden Palauni or now listed as an OR at DT

No other changes listed. Brady May is listed on the injury report. Hopefully we get him back in the lineup this weekend.

Need a big day out of Tuttle this week. If it comes down to kicking, I like our chances. Their kicking game has been disastrous. I ND’s kicker is 3 for 7 with a long of 37. He is 1 of 4 from beyond 30 yards.

They also have kicked touchbacks on just 2 of 38 kickoffs so Shaheed should be able to have a big game.

Their punters are averaging 34 yards a punt which probably will make it difficult to return anything. They have had 2 punts blocked.

This is pretty much a playoff game, a loss to the Hawks wont eliminate us from the playoffs, but with 3 of our last 4 games on the road we can ill afford to slip up. We really need the offense to step up in this one.

WIN IT FOR JENKS!!!!

We've been here before this season. Hoping the offense has finally turned the corner and are improving as a unit. Improving to the point where they can hold onto the ball, sustain a drive, pick up first downs on third down, consistently, and score points in the red zone. The second half last week, showed our potential (still 3 picks that gifted MSU 17 points is a serious problem). Health and experience have definitely been issues. Two starting linemen and a key backup are out for the season. Brady May was out last game and I'm not sure he will be ready to go on Saturday. Our RBs are finally getting healthy, but have been banged up and we lost our backup QB last game. Our TE's and WRs are young and inexperienced; except for Denby. And lastly, lately we have become prone to turning over the ball. Defense and Special Teams have been awesome for the Cats, but we desperately need the offense to grow a lot this week and put the team on their backs. I'm sure we can expect the D and Special Teams to generate some points, but to win we need the offense to put up some points and hold onto the ball. Weber isn't going to change anything. We can expect the Cats to come out running the ball (same with the sioux). This is going to be a grinder.

ND's top two WRs are out for this game. They will be even more of a running team on Saturday. I think our D will be up for it. :coffee:
