Nevermind, terrible series by the defense. We've now given up more points to Weber than their last 3 opponents COMBINED. We need to find a way to keep our intensity up.
I really wish we could get that Oregon-type of mentality when we play a lesser opponent; I want to see us just put the pedal down and euthanize the opponent early on. We tend to fuck around and let them make plays here and there and have to keep starters in to get banged up.

I agree. Why do we let up against these teams. We are clearly in a different league than Weber but we are letting them hang around and score points.

Receiving corps look good if we get the ball in their zip code
Vernon continues to look more average every game.
DB's kept things in check pretty well, and some of our young LB'er show lots of promise.
The real problem in on both sides of the line of scrimmage. When we allowed them to hang around you could see their confidence grow and they started pushing our line around. We should have been able to score every drive. NOT
As Dopa mentioned
If our defense is going to stop anybody it needs to start on the line of scrimmage. On running plays the Wildcats got a 2-3 yd push on the snap and their backs added 3-5 more. We have VERY talented individuals but NOT a good d-line as a whole.
My opinion of this team is at a new low. As you may recall I was thinking we could make an undefeated run but I don't think we can get through conference with less than 3 losses in fact I am not very confident we can beat North Dakota next week.

OK, I think we need to step back and realize that we just beat a team 41 to 19. Yes, I think the EAGS coasted at times tonight. I agree that we seem to let up at times.
Calling VA average is just wrong. I think he is playing with a significant injury. I think VA’s leg injury is really hindering his mobility and throwing mechanics. However, he still threw for 4 touchdowns. He had one interception which was a bad decision throwing into coverage. We ran for 279 yards. When was the last time that happened?
Yes the defense does need to improve but they showed signs (albeit against a poor team) of improvement. The EAGS will have no problem beating UND next weekend.

Our defense makes great plays, but no way should have given up so many points to Weber. UND barely beat ISU... we will not lose to them next week, and it won't be close, just like this game. Adams might not have been as sharp as he was against OSU, but he still put up video game numbers. At this pace he will shatter EWU regular season records and be the predominate favorite for the Payton. Settle down, folks. hno:

One thing I've noticed about Adams is that he doesn't seem to be as sharp when running the ball. Rather than looking for holes or sprinting to get around the edge, he seems like he just runs away from defenders even if it means not getting the maximum yardage.
I was happy to see the emergence of a running game tonight. I think it's time for Eastern to have a regular starting running back, instead of just rotating in guys. I'd rather see one pre-dominant running back get the most carries and see if e can get him into a groove. Based on tonight's game, I'd select Brown.
I think some of our problems are caused by intensity dropping in a game. We looked great on both sides of the ball early on, but became too relaxed by the end of the first quarter and let Weber hang around. I'd like to see us really play with fire for all 60 minutes.
