Pro's:
- Much more mobile than Padron, can make a lot of plays with his feet
- Has a year plus in the system, since he ran the scout team last year
- The read-option - well, becomes an option
Con's:
- Hasn't shown the ability to stretch the field yet. This is my main concern, since our entire offense is predicated on it. This may change in the future, but right now it's an issue
- Only 6'0" and it seemed like he didn't have great field vision
- Decent accuracy, but not great. This will probably get better with time, but lots of underthrown balls to wide-open receivers and TE's. Hard to judge through only 1/2 of a game, though
Vernon Adams played high school ball in arguably the toughest division in the land. He is a "special" player that does not come around very often. His athletic ability is matched by his football IQ. Please understand that if he were a few inches taller he would not be at EWU, and I mean no disrespect. For those of you who may not know or maybe haven't seen here is his a short film of his HS days. Give this young man the reigns for 4 years and you will be AMAZED with what he will do for your program. http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=related&v=gkvBWhDblj8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I hardly think that 1/2 of a real game qualifies someone to discern an athletes "pros" and "cons", but that's just me. Good luck Vernon and to the rest of the team as well!!!! HYDRATE DUMMY!
The first half of that video made me think we should put him at runningback.
Like Taiwan Jones.
