Attendance question

I'll be there. It looks as if my usual game posse is bailing on me though. It's my senior year, and these are my last opportunities to watch EWU football from the student section. You can't keep me out of this game. Going to have to pretty much wear my entire wardrobe, though. BRR!

Tell your usual posse to toughen up some and get their butts out there! This team deserves the support of the fans cold or not!

After a lot of arm twisting, I managed to get four folks to come out with me. :thumb:

Edit: Oi, one just bailed. F***'n candy ass.

If I was able to today, I'd make the drive up and freeze my butt off up there with ya'll. Unfortunately that is not the case for me today. I haven't been able to make it up for a single game this year, which really sucks.

Attendance looks good on the press box side! :thumb:

Much better than I expected. Looks like a fairly full crowd.

My guess is it will be a lot like the SEMO game back in 2010. Hardly anybody in the stands that day due to the extreme cold (sub 4k attendance... ) but we all know what that win started.

I was there for all of that playoff run, what a ride!
As was I, and excellent prediction by Front5!

vs SEMO: Tied at 17 at the half, EWU won 37-17. Attendance 3,665
vs SDSU: Tied at 14 at the half, EWU won 41-17. Attendance 6,127

:notworthy:

I was honestly quite surprised at today's attendance. I'll take 6,127 when it's single digit temps because next week, 30 degrees is going to feel like it's September again! :thumb:

For -10 wind chills and the coldest game ever in EWU history, that is not a bad crowd at all. Four or five years ago the crowd would have been half that for a game this cold.

The good news is I bet this cold front moves out by next weekend and we'll have a great crowd for the quarters. Would be great to get 9 or 10 thousand out to Cheney next weekend. Everyone needs to recruit as many folks as they can.

I will be there hell, high-water, or negative temps, and hopefully be bringing some peeps with me.

It was a solid crowd considering the conditions, and most folks were getting up on 3rd down when we're playing D

I have also noticed more people standing and making noise on 3rd down when we are on defense. I am croaking today. Went with a cold and yelled my ass off and paying for it now, but worth it!

What a blast. My wife says there is a certain cameradie among fans when the conditions are challenging! I did miss the band and it looks like they will be back in form next week.

I just read an article about how the band was unable to perform, due to the lubrication freezing up in their instruments. So they were on the south end singing the pep band songs

61, you mentioned; "Was unable to perform, due to the lubrication freezing up in their instruments."

Hate that when that happens...Hope it warms up by weeks end.

Yikes. We don't get that much - OK, at all - down here. I wouldn't want my lips near a mouthpiece in those temperatures, either.

But since you brought up bands, allow me to be the first to introduce you to the Marching Southerners. (Sorry, we pretty much can't shut up about them.)

I'm told the university is looking for a way to send a portion of the band to Cheney; we should know for sure Monday if it will happen. I think the group would be about the same size as the one bused to the McNeese game, 100 or so - a little less than a quarter of the full band.

Tell me about the EWU band - what can we look forward to?

Jax,

Thanks for the very impressive intro to your band and I hope that you and some of them can make the trip, I'm sure you would find the fans here very hospitable. As far as the EWU band is concerned, let's just say we love and appreciate them but they won't upstage the team as the most impressive thing that takes the field. We just don't seem to have the great band tradition here (even in the PAC 12) as they do in the south. :rimshot:

As RedRaptor said, our band won't upstage yours. As a matter of fact, much of our band won't even be attending. School is out and our university recruits musicians/alumni to come to Spokane and fill the gaps of our students gone for break.

Ha! I'm from Lake County. Small world. According to the forecast, the wind should be weak by game time. I seriously doubt the cold alone is going to weaken our passing game like many SDSU fans believe.

Booked my flight today. I hope the band will do so tomorrow. As for your band, anyone who's willing to wear their school's colors and share music with with an audience has my respect.

I'm looking forward to the trip. You all seem a decent lot; it's a shame your team has to lose this game.

Are you in the band, Sinfonian, or a former band member? As others have said, I wish EWU's band were more important. but it's not a source of pride like it is in the South. I'm a tenor alum from EWU's drumline. I miss playing, but I don't miss the back problems. Safe travels friend, I hope you enjoy your time in the PNW, despite your team losing. :thumb:

I had an interesting living situation growing up. I lived full time in Lake County before ever going to school. In elementary school, I split time between my mother and father. I went to school in Kittitas, Washington, but spent every summer in Montana. I love Polson. I'm graduating soon and that is one area I'm scoping for a job.
