Attendance question

Its going to be a tough draw this weekend, our kickoff is the exact same time as the Coug Kickoff, thanks ESPN, what a joke!

Would be nice to see the stands full, but the east side and end zone have been empty the last two games. Hopefully we will have a nice turnout!

I agree with everything that has been said on this board and others about attendance, but let me just be a glass half full person for a minute (not usually my style).
While I've been, and continue to be disappointed by attendance, I have noticed something different about crowds this year than in year's past. Crowds seem to be louder, more engaged, and more committed than I've ever seen. There were some moments in the SoDak St game where I don't doubt for a second the crowd impacted play on the field. Then in the 4th against Jax St, I think the crowd got to the Jax St backup a bit.

I know I"m the first to complain about crowd size, but I think crowd quality has improved dramatically over the course of the last year. For that I'm happy.

HOWEVER, someone needs to get to Swoop and the Cheer squad and even the board operator and give them a lesson about offense vs defense. There were numerous times in the 3rd and 4th last weekend when Swoop was in the crowd on offense on big 2nd and 3rd downs waving his arms and getting the crowd around him to stand and cheer. ALSO, while on offense, the cheerleaders wave their arms (I think they're trying to do the sit down quite motion) and it looks liek they're telling people to get hyped. they have "LOUD" signs for defense. Can't they get some "Quiet" signs for offense. Or couldn't the board operator do some quiet graphics on the screen?

Ahhh I really don't think they even know what is going on in the game even if you ask them. Not to offend anyone I would say you would probably get a 50/50 split if you showed them a picture and asked if we were on offense or defense.

Just an FYI. NCAA rules for the playoffs require the PA/Video Board to essentially be neutral. Anything that is done for EWU, has to be done for the opposing team. Thus if EWU has a Defense logo flashing, the visitor gets one as well at key moments. If music is played for EWU on 3rd down, it also supposed to be played for the visitor. There is also an NCAA official on site monitoring all this.

What I can't figure out is if they wanted a neutral field, why don't they host the game a neutral sites? This totally defeats much of the home field advantage.

Right on Great day, I've said this for years, the cheer squad is working hard but do not seem to have a clue as to timing.

WA Trust Bank has stepped up and purchased a large amount of tickets for Saturday. Larry Weir mentioned it tonight at Epic, we had a great crowd for the Coaches Show. We all need to rally and invite a dozen or so friends and neighbors this weekend. If you watch the replay on ESPN3 from this past Saturday it isn't pretty to look at the empty high school bleachers. We need to fill Roos Field this weekend and support these young men. Spokane and all of eastern Washington are on national TV Saturday morning. Tell your friends they need to represent their neighborhood and come out to Roos Saturday AM. Go Eagles.

There's no reason to not sell this thing out! If you can't make it, buy tickets and donate them somewhere. If you can make it, buy four extra tickets and bring friends. This is a perfect day to get out of Christmas shopping and you will be done by 2:30p. If you are in Seattle or out of town elsewhere, get in your car. This team deserves everyone's best effort on the most important weekend of the year. I would guess that a slim crowd would not be great for the school's Gateway efforts as well as selling Coach Baldwin on the overall seriousness of this program's fan base.

I'll be recruiting people to come.

Former players: Just be there-you owe it to the program 8-)

Students: you have a couple more weeks to be home on break. Pile 10 of your closest friends into the Geo Metro and call it a road trip, get rowdy at the game, then crash at a buds house.

Spokane (and surrounding region)- you have a choice: watch the Who Cares Bowl on TV or actually go to a game that really matters. The weather won't be any worse than Apple Cup games are known for. If you want to DVR the Whoop-Ty-Doo bowl and watch it later, be my guest, but I don't know why anyone would do that. :wall: This game will be waaaaayyyyyy more entertaining.

There's going to be All-American players running all over the field on Saturday (on both sides). I don't think a lot of people in the region understand that at least 50% of WSU's starting lineup wouldn't play very much here. I know for sure WSU's QB would be 3rd string here and all of their receivers would be handing out water on the sidelines. This is big-boy football accompanied by big-boy tailgating. :thumb:

Fill the place up and make some noise!

I don't think last week's reported attendance was accurate, but either way, time to show out. Get the word out, recruit as many people as possible - if you can't make the game (like me), purchase tickets and give them away to people that can. That's what I'll be doing. Bottom line, we need to make a statement this weekend. It's the semi's, so rally the troops.

That attendance figure from last week can't be correct.

Just saw a good ad on ESPN (Spokane channel 173) regarding tickets available for the Towson Game. Had a lot of good highlights and was well done. So, EWU is doing some advertising.
