"As in previous contracts, it contains performance bonuses, including $2,000 for winning the Big Sky Conference championship; $2,000 for each win in the first three rounds of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs; $4,000 for winning an FCS semifinal game, and $10,000 for winning the FCS title."
Yeah, and 2k for a win in the first three rounds of the FCS playoffs. Does a Bye count as a win in the first three rounds, or is a first round Bye essentially a forfeit of bonus dollars.
I think each round should be worth different amounts. And they should be more than they are. A Bye should earn as big, or bigger of a bonus then a first round win. A win in each consecutive round should net a bigger bonus, as each win would be considered a higher caliber victory. And the NC should be worth more than 10k.
For comparison, a MSU fan listed the incentives for coach Ash as:
$10,000 for playing FBS
$10,000 for big sky coach of the year
$7,500 national coach of the year
$5,000 8 win season
$7,500 9 and 10 win seasons
$7,500 playoff bid
$7,500 each round of playoffs
$15,000 Nat. champ. Game
$50,000 win nat. champ
I don't know how accurate that is, as it is the words of a fan. But the fan seems knowledgeable. I haven't been able to find anything on the internet to verify these figures, though. But if that is these are accurate, that is a huge disparity in bonus pay!
MSU can afford to quote those figures because they know Ash won't ever do any of those things.
 :notworthy:
