Baldwin to Cal?

I just saw skyline sports report that there is a rumor Baldwin will be OC at Cal and there is a press conference today. That happened quickly.
 
This looks like a done deal. Best of luck to Coach Baldwin. He will go down as the Greatest Coach in EWU history and will always be welcome back.

Who should replace him? At this point I say Best is the likeliest candidate but I would also look at Junior Adams. He's on the raise as a Coach and we could get him before he gets a head offer in the FBS.

Best of luck to him...wonder if his previous contract had a buy out clause.
 
Great, just read the article about his extension...Then this. It's like the rollercoaster of emotions when VA left! He's staying, he's going, he's staying...Nope, he's going.

It was bound to happen, just thought we were in the clear for this year. Will always be a Baldwin supporter for what he has done for this program and what he has meant to the university and community.

I also trust Chaves to make a solid choice for head coach.

As much as I hate to hear this I am very happy for Beau, kind of bitter sweet. It appears he will at least double his "new" contract.

Not sure why Cal was the right fit. Wilcox is a first time HC and the school is probably on the short list of "next up" for stupid SJW antics in athletics after Missouri and Minnesota the past two years. Just outside looking in. If he can make it work there, the world is his oyster. :-)

IMO this is a FAR better opportunity than Nevada. Rumor had it he did not get that job because he did not want to inherit the assts there. Wonder how many of the Eagle asst's we might lose?
 
I think Cal admin is a great fit. I loved that they fired their coach for looking every year and not being committed to their school. I am so happy for him. My only thought is how much did we screw up in not having a clause for a buy out for him. Also how awesome would it be if they announced a stadium upgrade here as well?
 
Bad timing. January 16th? Whoever takes the reins, Best presumably, is going to have to make sure this recruiting class stays locked in.

Having a 2nd HC with Wilcox makes sense.
 
So, I see he's gone. But I didn't ascertain what Eastern said about the Head Coach role. Have they moved on Best? I'd have to assume it needs to be done within a day or two.
 
Happy for a great Coach whose mark will be forever remembered. Sad for the huge loss. I imagine at this point to lessen the blow and keep things smooth an in-house hire will occur and staff will be pretty much intact.
