Battle of the Basement

Here we are in late February and we are battling the Hornets for the basement of the Big Sky. I get we have had a lot of injuries, but the basement is still the basement. Maybe with the NIL and transfer portal, you can build a winner fast…but I think the basketball and football programs are going to take a lot of time and work to turn around.

Looking at all the "red flags" currently with men's basketball, the expectations have now dropped...the bar is set nearly at ground level. The turn around will only begin with clearing the deck of the Rahe/Duft era drain. Fresh energy & enthusiasm needs are obvious!

A BSC record of 3-15 (likely), 4-14 (maybe), 5-13 or 6-12 (a stretch of hope for sure) looms & doesn't cut it for a once proud program! Sure, adversity from unfortunate injuries, etc. have had an effect, but coaching flaws existed way before & continue on, maybe along with some player performance.

Weber can be thankful for Sac. State in basketball as No. Colorado is thankful for Weber in getting their only football win.🤕

Maybe not quite as thankful anymore.....

Yes, it's the other way around, Sacramento State can now be thankful for Weber State...what with the Wildcats gifting them a win after the Hornet's 7 game losing streak.

As it stands right now, might be a rematch coming Mar 8 when the 2 bottom seeds play...looks likely that Weber will be winless the rest of the way & "a very tough year" (per HC Duft) for Weber will mercifully be ended. Hopefully never to be repeated in the near future! May the gift giving be done for good, whatever that takes?!
