Big Sky Conference Schedules for 2012-2015

The Big Sky Conference has announced they will be releasing the Conference Schedules for the 2012-2015 season later today. I will try and post as soon as I see it. It will be interesting to see how it works out now that there will be 13 teams in the conference.

and here they are.

Wow, no games against the Montana schools for us in 2015. And an open date the last week of the season so we can go into the playoffs rested

I don't mind having UND has a "rival" game, but I'm not holding my breath that the Sue will stick around the 'Sky. They're a better fit in the other conference with the other Dakota schools.

Although UNC doesnt play a Montana school for a "conference" game till 2015, I wouldnt be suprised at all and I would almost bet that UNC will play at least one of the Montana schools as a OOC game every year or every other year.

Thats the beauty of the size of this conf, you can schedule other conf mates that arent already on your "conference" schedule as OOC games.

That OOC scheduling should be interesting to see how that plays out. Since there are no other FCS teams close it almost seems that NCC teams will almost always play another conference team. The cupcake team, the FBS money game and then another conference team will probably become a pretty standard formula.

The tiebreaker scenarios will also be interesting to see.

IMO, we're in the Big Sky for the long haul..............

I like that we got paired up with Montana St. & UNC. Fair bit of history with you guys from the NCC days. Also, Greely is probably the easiest place to get to in the Big Sky from North Dakota.

The one thing I don't like, is that both North Dakota and Northern Colorado either host or travel to both of our rivals each season. It seems like there should have been a way to ensure that when North Dakota travels to Bozeman, that the Bears come to Grand Forks that season and vice-versa. And when UNC is playing at North Dakota, you guys should get to host Northern Arizona that year.

How do you guys like the pairing with NAU?

Being paired with NAU makes sense and I thought we fit better with NAU and Weber because they're the closest to us. I would have liked to see the Big Sky go to a two division conference, much like the SEC and Big 12 and then have a championship game for the two winners of each division. But, I guess I trust the powers that be.

There would never be a championship game because there is a playoff in FCS. The 13 team number is the only problem and would have been solved except MU just likes to talk big but won't walk the walk. :o
