Big Sky Scores

I think the bobs will handle the SD School of Mimes at home pretty easily, at least I hope so. Quality scheduling there.

Idaho beats Wazzu and Montana takes Cal to two overtimes before falling by 2. In what may be the worst loss for the conference this season, UTSA beats NAU in Flagstaff. UTSA is the team SUU beat on the road. At 2-6, NAU is not looking good at all.

Montana almost pulled a win equal to EW's win at Indiana. Cal is a decent team, but they had way too many turnovers. I don't know what to think of Idaho. They lose to Northern Kentucky at home and then follow it up with a Pac12 win. NAU looked much stronger at the beginning of the season. Maybe they have gotten used to losing. Don't forget that PSU got worked over by Portland last night.

The Griz cause a lot of turnovers with an aggressive defense. Unfortunately it also results in some easy buckets for the other team thus the high percentage teams shoot against the Griz lately. For a while it seemed Cal was either scoring or turning it over every possession.

Really should have won the game @Cal. Went 11-23 from the FT line and had a chance to win it in regulation. Went 4-13 from the FT line in the 2nd half... We were up by 3 with about 35 seconds left and just got the ball. Cal fouled and we missed the front end of a 1 and 1. In overtime we got fouled with about 7 seconds to go down by 2 and missed the first free throw so had to miss the 2nd. Bad bad bad free throw shooting definitely hurt :(

The announcers made a comment at one point about how the Griz were out playing Cal. They seemed pretty impressed. I figured we'd lose big @Cal after the bad SF loss (played like crap). Playing 5 of your first 6 games on the road is a pretty brutal way to begin the season :P

Going to be an interesting Big Sky this year as usual. EWU is sure looking like the team to beat so far.

Does anyone have the numbers for last year? I think we are doing a little better this year. At least at the top we are.
Last season the conference went 24-66 versus D-1 for a winning percentage of .266. So far this season, it has a winning percentage of .350.

Oh my! I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Sac being down 14, 5 minutes into the 2nd half, at Abilene Christian, is both a surprise and not good for the BSC. Could it be that damned altitude?

Once Sac travels over that danged 1700 feet thresh hold things get sketchy. I think Abilene Christian has only been D1 for a year. They are ranked 349 out of the 351 D1 schools. OUCH!

The Pomeroy ratings have the Big Sky ranked 26th out of 33 conferences this year -- same as last year, although the conference's numerical rating is up slightly this year.

Been a couple bad days for Sac St, at any elevation. Besides that terrible loss, their student body overwhelmingly voted against raising student fees to finance a new arena.

That Sac loss was terrible in anyone's book. Shot 20% first half.....can't win doing that.....no excuses.....we sucked last night....next up is UC Irvine so it doesn't get easier

Ok....we chit our pants against UC Irvine....you threw up all over Arlington....Idaho St. lost at home to UOP...Idaho won at home against undefeated UC Davis....Montana St beats one of the Utahs (UVU).....EWU stomps Seattle U....there is good and bad all over the conference but as we all know the only games that REALLY mean anything to a one bid conference are in conference games....can't wait for January

I think part of the problem is we don't have the attitude that every game is important! Need to win every game..... Not just conference. Losing stinks!

Screw this wait until it's a conference game mentality.

Weber losses have all been to good teams. And the Cats have been in everyone. Problem is youth, continuity, and lack of a second inside option. Weber is coming along.

Conference record versus D1:

Overall 26-45 (.366)

Home 14-6 (.700)
Road 9-35 (.205)
Neutral 3-4 (.429)

(14-0 versus non-D1)

Slight improvement over last year. Still lots of room for improvement though. Sad that the NCAA won't create a rule stipulating that teams have to have an equal number of away/neutral court games as home games in the OCC. If you look at high major and some mid-major conferences, you can automatically tell that teams rarely leave their home courts. Granted, $$$ helps teams stay at home. Imagine if athletics really cared about building up their "bank" account so that there was more $$$ available to pay teams to come to Ogden. Revenue comes from a variety of areas ranging from donations and club memberships to ticket sales, but athletics is content on being mediocre and just doing enough to stay ahead. I feel it is better to be doing anything and everything possible to be better than your best, and determined to grow. Weber is a long way from being Good, but the goal should be to be Great. Time for change??

Idaho St got a nice road win over Grand Canyon. Conference D1 record now 27-46 (.370).

10 road wins so far:

PSU @ USC
Sac @ UC Riverside
UM @ Seattle
EWU @ Indiana
PSU @ Cal St Northridge
SUU @ UTSA
Idaho @ Wash St
UND @ Drake
EWU @ Seattle
