Big Sky Scores

The BSC does seem stronger, top to bottom. There is not a huge disparity between the top five or six teams. Eastern has been the strongest in the preseason. You would expect them to do well with 5 returning starters. Everyone else has had some good and some bad. What usually happens is that good teams plateau and lower achieving teams get better. There will be teams coming on strong at the end. Whether or not they can pull it off at the end remains to be seen.

My prediction is that we are in for a rollercoaster ride. Buckle up! :twocents:

Heading into conference play, here are the latest RPI rankings from the NCAA:

48 EWU
164 PSU
185 UND
192 Sac
208 UM
227 WSU
238 NAU
258 UI
272 MSU
281 UNC
296 SUU
342 ISU

The Hornets crawled through OOC play with a 6-5 record. Only bad loss is a road game at Abilene Christian. I thought Seattle was a winnable game but the Hornets no-showed on the road and we lost big. We had a chance to knock off Portland in the Nest in the final minute but couldn't get it done.

Aside from having another win, I am ok with where the team is at. The Hornets had a slow start to the season but have played better the last few weeks (well aside from that Seattle no-show :ohno: ).

BW: 2-1 Would be 3-1 if davis didn't pull a chicken sh!t move by ducking our rivalry game. :bad:
WAC: 2-1 Thank you UVU. :-D
WCC: 0-2 Almost knocked off Portland...oh so close... :x
Southland: 0-1 Embarrassing loss to ACU.
D2/NAIA: 2-0 Still counts as wins right? ;-)

The Bobs go 0-2, at home, to start BSC play. EWU goes 2-0 at home with a win today vs ISU. Anyone see that game or have a feel for why Idaho State was able to contain Harvey better than Weber? 12-19 FG, 7-10 3PT, 8-8 FT for 39 PTS vs Weber; 4-12 FG, 3-9 3PT, 5-5 FT for 16 PTS vs ISU. Hansen had a nice offensive game, I wonder if he was able to keep Harvey in check too?

Congrats to 3-11 ISU today. Even with the loss they out rebounded EWU 41-27. Something WSU was not willing to do.

They played a 1-1-3 zone and a 1-3-1 zone against them. He had some good looks just wasn't on. ISU was really disruptive on the entry pass to Jois. Hansen wasn't guarding Harvey it was Ian Fox, I mean it was mostly Ben Wilson in the zone.

ISU chose to rebound.

Honestly, if the Cats decided to zone on a few possessions and mix up their defenses, they just might have slowed down Idaho. The Vandals beat us inside and by penetrating, which was the difference. Employing a zone once in a while might have been helpful. Verlin's style is exactly the same as Rahes, but if you noticed, he changed up his defense trying to slow the Cats down and also, limit our ability to drive to the bucket. He won the game. Our interior defense has to improve.

Had to drag this back to current status...but hey, I'm just following a little interest in how other conf. games are going aside from following the Wildcats in their rare stance of now playing the spoiler role. Top 3 win tonight, EWU beat SUU by 3 in Cedar City. Surely Montana will be ready to claw down any attempt at spoiling their 2nd place standing, though it would be really sweet to see it.
