Brian Cabral

It may simply be up to the Powers That Be to make a decision. Cabral indicates he would come if offered. He wants and deserves to be a HC.

From Today's Camera:
Cabral has committed to remaining with the Buffs unless he lands a head coaching job. He is a candidate for the head coach opening at Northern Colorado. If Cabral remains in Boulder, Embree will be the fifth head coach Cabral has worked under.

take a look at this

Yeah, we suck. :(

Well, my/our only hope now is that Matt Schuman's "source" is not correct. I s'pose that's doubtful...better start thinkin' about Peterson...

Yeah, Cabral is out. So...we need to keep it in the family. Let's get either Deti, Peterson, English or Collins. Someone who wants to be here. Cabral is a buff and will always be a Buff. We have a good program here and if he doesn't want to be part of it, move on. Get someone who bleeds blue and gold. Tom Beck is right. Get someone who's connected to the program.

Yeah Deti and Peterson don't bleed Blue and Gold that's for sure...

I'm shocked how much interest there is in these two, they were huge parts of a coaching staff that totally sucked for many years... Peterson not so much but it's guilt by association, if you're part of the current staff you have blood all over your hands for this abortion and need to go.

If its true, I don't blame him, who would want to come coach here after being passed up for a guy like Downing.

I'm surprised as well as to how much interest there is in Peterson and Deti. Peterson I can see, but Deti? Why would you hire someone from Downing's coaching staff?

Beck is demanding that the next coach either played or coached here, by that logic Joe Glenn would never have been considered. BTW ask CSU how that logic is working out for them.

That logic doesn't make sense here---What has English done to warrant consideration here? Scary stat of the evening: His defense gave up 34 points to a New Mexico team who has managed back to back one win seasons---New Mexico DID NOT score more than 21 in any of their 11 losses....

As far as anyone else----Why not try for Bobby Kennedy? There WILL be turnover on UT's offensive staff, and he played at UNC....
One more name---Why not look at outgoing CU Defensive Coordinator Ron Collins?

Too funny!! Lets throw OK Dalton in there as well!! Whoever it is , I hope it comes quicker than what they are saying so the new HC can get on the recruiting trail pronto!!

I am still excited. Coaching philosophies are not some contagious disease. Just because someone coached under a head coach, it doesn't mean they will do things the same way. If we hire a current assistant coach, they already know the players, and probably have a great sense on what did and didn't work for Downing.

True. But to me Peterson, not so much, and Deti are two average coaches. If Peterson had come in and help change the culture. As well as made the offense better than its ever been, than ya i can see them making him HC. I know it was Peterson's first year and maybe we haven't seen what he can do, but the offense was up and down all year. Times it looked good and times it look horrible. Same with Deti, the D looked good at times, came up big sometimes. But there were times when they might had trouble stopping a JV high school team. There's was just too much inconsistency.

My point being is that if Peterson or Deti stuck out like sore thumbs, as in they were the main reason why UNC was winning games, then ya I would they need to be promoted to HC. But the D gave up a ton of points this year, and the O was so so. I just don't see what warrants them being a HC.

Also I just read on Football Scoop, that Cabral is going to remain on the new coaching staff.

How about Ray Gregory out of Georgia Southern. Head Coaching experience at Southern Utah and runs a great offense. Georgia Southern is deep in the playoffs.

I've been readingthis forum for a long time and this is the first time I am writing. In regards to the next HC, Tom Beck is 100% WRONG. His whole reasoning for this is Colorado recruiting and a return to the way things were when he played. With this type of thinking, Joe Glenn would have never been hired here. Any half competent coach knows how to recruit a state hard, if they don't, well see Brewster from Minnesota. The truth is Downing split scholarships up to get more bang for buck and lost good kids from the state to other Big Sky teams instead of offering full rides. The staff recruited the kids, they just chose other schools. By the way, there are other problems with this program besides recruiting, like the budget crisis that will affect the program.

Peterson has been an OC for a Big 12 and a Mountain West team. He has nice connections to area coaches and Texas. It didn't work out at CSU because Fairchild wanted to micro-manage the offense. I think our offense would have been a lot better had we a better offensive line (obviously). I blame that on not recruiting better o-linemen, but also injuries. Lot's of injuries and inexperience. I really liked Petersons play calling. On a different note - how sad is it that we don't have a short list of candidates already? We need to have a coach within the endof the week. Not in two weeks like the Tribune said.

I really don't have a problem with Peterson but as far as our search commitee goes, they need to get it going as far as I'm concerned. They cant wait 2 weeks to come up with a list of 5 and then make a freakin decision. This is not rocket science!!!

The longer it takes the less likely it will be either Peterson or Deti. If they were going to hire within, they would have done it by now.

I only hope it is not Peterson or Deti. Most people on this board wanted Dalton fired and he was 10X the offensive coordinator that Peterson is so shut that door already.

I don't mind the committee taking a little time to get the right person in here. Most schools are wrapped up now so they should be able to gauge the amount of interest out there. I don't think it should take two weeks to get a short list but get it right this time. Not sure what is typical but I would think we would have received more than 45 people who are interested. Anyone know what is typical?

Also we need the CU hiring and Broncos firing buzz to slow down so we actually get a little press when we make the hire!

Ok I've changed my mind, forget this guy he's nothing but a errand boy and doesn't have the onions to be the man.

yeah, that's strange that he has no desire to be the top guy. If he's okay with being a position coach with a very bad BCS school then maybe we're better off.
