Brutal West Coast swing - @PSU and @EWU

So this weekend sees the Bears go to Portland then fly over to EWU and play them on their travel day. I have to think our shooting legs will be toast by the 2nd half of the EWU game so they will need to be a bit creative.

Jan. 15 at Portland State

Jan. 16 at Eastern Washington

I think this pacific northwest road swing could be tough for two reasons... First, Portland State lost by 32 at Montana in their last game. So they will be looking to save some face and make up from that. The Eastern Washington team is coming off their biggest win of the season at Montana State..They have two electric point guards that are tough to handle.

The Most obvious reason this is a tough two games is because they are back to back so IMO I think the bench is going to have to step up and play smart basketball. GO BEARS!

P.S. I think it's safe to say that UNC is the best team in the Big Sky and I know that doesn't mean anything until they win the conference tournament but this team has to expect to get every other BS teams best effort when they play us.

This road swing shouldn't be any more difficult than the back to back road games against Montana State and Montana on Dec 4 & 5. Except that all three teams now have another month of basketball under their belts. Our guys have been improving since then, and the bench has really stepped it up. When Bietzel struggled offensively against Idaho State, the bench came off and scored 30 points, including the 17 by Kaba, then add to that the 24-29 performance at the free throw line. Shawn Ellis has been doing a really good job in scouting the teams in upcoming games to prepare the defensive strategies, and the guys really appear to be building up a winner/fighter mentality. From Tad Boyle after the Idaho State game, "In a lot of ways, we kind of needed a game like this," Boyle said. "We haven't been in this situation a lot this year -- down in the second half -- and I think our guys really responded in the second half. I challenged our guys at halftime -- Idaho State just wanted it more than us -- and we gutted it out in the second half. We created some offense with our defense."

"We created some offense with our defense." This will probably be the key to winning these two games, but I think the Bears will come home with two more wins on their record.

Go Bears!!!

down 12-2 and were not getting a call going are way this looks like its going to be a tough game with the calls not going our way!

These officials are calling everything against the bears tonight... every time we get a drive to the basket they call an offensive foul..its ridiculous!

I was at the game in Portland tonight and we looked really bad. Portland State out played us in every aspect. We had a lot of fouls and some of them were pretty questionable. We didn't seem to have any spark and they kept us from getting any good shots off. When we did shoot we missed. They out muscled us under the basket and we gave up a lot of points to their big guys. I was looking forward to watching our team in person, but I was disappointed in our effort and the way we played tonight. I hope this was just a bad night and we can really play better than we did.

Budbear I guess we will see tonight....But that was a horrible game from many aspects last night so hopefully they pick it back up and come back to Greeley 1-1.

Nice bounce back by the Bears. Also, poor Idaho State, losing by 2 in triple OT to Weber State.

Damn I was hoping we could wipe that goose egg off of our record against PSU. An 0-10 all time series record is a little embarrassing. Nonetheless, this team kicks ass!
