Some of you guys are so naive its ridiculous.
1. Padron will start against Idaho. -Do you think its THAT hard for him to adjust to the same position he played at SMU? No. Eastern's offense is right up his alley. June Jones = Pass Happy = Beau Baldwin. Ipso facto.

I'm just as pumped as anyone on Padron and I think he will be great but I don't think he is the clear cut starter right away, had he come this spring, then I think he'd be the frontrunner, but coming in so late, I just don't know, time will tell. We have to remember, he was injured, and there is a reason he lost his starting spot at SMU. Also...just ask BLM how hard it was to learn the offense his first year, there was a learning curve and he was here for spring ball.

I do think Padron starts, but it isn't going to be as easy and guaranteed as people think. I also don't think we have a problem with drop downs in the program, we have more 4 and 5 year players than most FCS programs in the country.

If you don't believe that to be the case, then there are plenty of NAIA schools full of guys who play for fun.

I've got one playing in each and the NAIA one works just as hard so I'll call bullshit on that. They work hard because it's about doing what it takes to win. The best player plays. Period.

Haha, I was hoping someone would.

Through this process BLM has earned more respect from me than anything else he has done. It would have been easy for him to resent or hold it against Padron that he lost his position at SMU but instead it appears he gave guidance and welcomed Padron with open arms and did what he felt best for Padron and Eastern. Thanks Bo!
I also trust the coaches to do what is best for the team (winning) and find it hard to believe the job is handed to Padron on a platter. He will have to compete for the job. That competition will start when he arrives here after the spring qtr ends at SMU. Just because he will not participate in spring ball isn't terrible, he will be here all summer working with receivers, backs, centers, etc. Not exactly the same as spring ball but they have all summer to familiarize.
The only rap I've read on him, and it is only one fans opinion, just like here is he is a little slow to make decisions when under pressure. If he is not familiar with the offense that could be magnified. I'm still cautiously optimistic that the Big Sky will grant him a medical red shirt. If not he is a one year player and I wonder if the coaches want that.
Anyway enough babble, I'm ready for some ACTION!!

...Again, if you think a proven Qb better BLM will ride the pine, then you dont understand college football. If I was a junior QB right now at Eastern Id transfer to Portland St, Sac St or Cal Poly.
No thanks; we already have our FBS QB transfer from Nevada who is undoubtedly the early favorite to win the starting job. 8-)

Man if I knew there was this much action going on here, I would have stopped by a long time ago.

If I understand the rules, Pardon can not receive scolarship funds to EWU until he receives a medical year from the NCAA. He need two years to transfer. So when he arrives at Eastern is up to the NCAA.

One thing I KNOW for CERTAIN, it is up to the Big Sky, NOT the NCAA

It is appearent your lack of understanding in QB. There is only one position available for a QB. They will look at this . The two mentioned above that did start who started them. There is no competition do you really think Padron is coming here without guarantees. He could go anywhere. Just like when BLM came there was no competition. I am not saying they aren't great at what they do, but there will not be a competition.

Oh good, I noticed you changed this in a later post. :thumb:

Yeah, the 2 year minimum for transfers is a conference thing.
We signed a RB transfer from Fresno State who only has 1 year of eligibility left.

Per Hornetsports:
A.J. Ellis RB 5-11 195 Sr. San Jose, Calif./Fresno State

:?:

Point of clarity- requiring minimum of 2 years of eligibility is an NCAA rule which Padron has. Allowing Padron a medical red shirt is a Big Sky decision.

As clarified by eagle1, he doesn't need to be granted a medical RS. If a player hasn't used a redshirt at all (ala Kaufman and Padron), and they are injured in the 1st 4 games of a season, then that year may qualify for a medical hardship and acts just as a RS year.

eagle1 said:
Brandon Kaufman qualified for a medical hardship that is only available if you have not used a redshirt year and your injury occurred during the first 4 games of a 11 game season. Tyler Hart and Zach Johnson both applied for a 6th year of eligibility that can only be applied for if you have had at least 2 seasons of injury that have forced you to miss more than half the games of those seasons combined. The medical hardship can be applied for during the season of injury whereas the 6th year can only be applied for at the end of a players eligibilty. Hope that clears it up!

Realised you shouldn't post on your phone.

Just wanted to throw in my two cents worth re disparaging remarks made about a couple of the more intelligent posters on the Red Zone:
FRONT4FORLIFE is a a good guy who paid his dues in the trenches and is a loyal eagle. I am in agreement with him that we can trust Baldwin and his staff to make the right football decisions for Eastern.
I would never get in a urinating contest with HANNAH on either a discussion of football or grammar. She is a smart lady!

Although ridiculous, I love that fn started this thread as it generated a lot of activity on the blog that normally doesn't take place during the doldrums of the football year before spring ball. This is the kind of shit that goes on at egriz every day.

I know that if I lived in some egriz place where it was either the sheep or a message board, I be checking messages early and often. Wool gives me hives. Plus, some Montana fans told me sheep are liars. Not sure what that means?

SE, does this mean we've finally arrived? As long as we keep the douche level somewhere south of Alphagriz and his minions of sheep penetrators, I'm all for a little mud slinging (all in fun, mind you) if it means some activity during the dark days.

Mimicking Spoeagle and having met, tailgated, and sat next to one FlyingNail I can tell you that he is a prince of a man, also has strong ties to the team, and his lovely wife makes the best Chili Verde this side of xtapa. I've also met Alphagriz who unlike his on-line persona, I found polite and quiet. On-line, he stirs the pot and can be very entertaining.

SE's right, the ridiculous really drives message boards so remember kalm's rules

Rule #1: never take anything posted on a message board too seriously
Rule #2: YOU NEVER take anything posted on a message board too seriously

That being said, things get really fun when a poster clearly does not follow these rules. So don't spread the word too much.

:tiptoe:

Kalm, no truer words spoken ! I never thought this thread would go viral but o'boy it has been entertaining !Sometimes this board needs a koolaid kick and this turned out to be a great flavor. You know my loyalty to EWU and the process so thanks for clearing up the misconceptions and yes it is the best chile verde around. Will miss the tailgating this year but will ALWAYS make it to the Grizz games. Peace good friend and GOEAGS!
