Cal Poly

G&P,
Haven't seen you on the blog for some time, Codi said you was busy in school. Well glad to have you back. Reference Spencer Blackburn, I saw him on Wednesday Practice, with his right hand bandage up very heavy, didn't inquire his status. Jalen Moore had been practicing, don't know how his injury is healing. Heard Todd Raynes got the clearance to play this weekend. Clay DeBorg, Victor Gamboa will be ready for the Cal Polly Game, also Sam McPherson RB, will be ready. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: I think Nic Sblendorio should be ready, he said he will be ready. Spoke to Nic on Wednesday, told him not to rush coming back, he said the injury wasn't as bad. We will be ready for this game on both sides of the ball.    I think we will pack "Roos Field" again this weekend. Supposed to be in the 70s'. See you on Saturday. Go Eagles!!!!!Vic Wallace
Thanks for the update. For the most part its all really good news. I did start my teaching job with the Mead district 3 weeks ago, so that's why I've been so quiet. My brother is coming up for the Cal Poly game, and if they have an open practice Friday I'm going to take him to the University to see a little practice and the campus / bookstore for some Eagles clothes. I buy something each time I go there if I can, this week I bought two BELIEVE shirts to help Coach Baldwin in his campaign to fight cancer. It's a great cause and the shirts look great!

Last note - Great news especially about Clay, Raines, and Victor. Everyone is important of course, but those guys are also leaders that we really need on the field. I'm so glad Sam turned out to be ok. I was very concerned about his injury. Love that kid and hope he has a long and successful stay with EWU.

I'll stop by your truck on my way in to the game this weekend and introduce you to my brother.

Great to hear McPherson's injury isn't as bad as it looked. When it happened I really felt like he may have blown out the knee he injured in high school.

I agree about NAU, but it's at home which I think gives a major advantage to us. Last year we lost down there in a heartbreaker and MSU also lost down there. The week before, NAU looked pretty bad in Missoula.

I hate domes. Hate them so much!
They looked slow in the 1st half but came alive in the second and actually looked in control

Topsy turvy Big Sky this season. Sounds like we got a little healthier this past week. Looking forward to a good game this Saturday.

Shouldn't we be 1-0 in conference play?

Big difference playing at home at 6,900 ft and going on the road and playing at 2,350 feet.

Teams just get worn down in 4th qtr at that elevation.

Ask the NCAA FCS standings people. Looks like automation got in the way of "accuracy".

Cal Poly had 499 rushing yards last week against the Bengals, and will be a great test for the Eagle defense. Cal Poly leads the FCS in rushing at 363.8 yards per game. The Eagles are ranked 122nd among 123 FCS teams in rushing defense, surrendering an average of 313.0 per game.

Maybe there is hope for my Mustangs. We better be able to score a ton because I do not think our defense will slow EWU much.

Any team that can run the ball well will feel as though they have a chance against the Eagle D until we prove we can stop--- or at least slow--- a good running attack.

The good news is that the bane of our existence tends to be zone read types of offense, whereas we've typically done pretty well historically against pure option teams. I guess we'll all know a lot more about where we stand after Saturday!

Here is a link to the collection of content we have produced about Cal Poly this season, including features on the CP linebackers, fullback Joe Protheroe, quarterback Chris Brown and head coach Tim Walsh.

To All,
We worry to much about what the other have as Players. I know what our team have as Players. We have seen them enough to know what they are capable of doing. I know we will be ok this weekend, so have a nice sleep Friday night. Vic Wallace

This is Cal Poly's last chance to end their decade long losing streak to us. Their last victory was in 2005.
While your above statement is true, it is a little misleading. You make it sound as if EWU is 10-0 against Cal Poly over the last decade. In truth they are 3-0 with one win coming in triple OT.

What's your call for the game Stang? CP gonna step it up on the inferno? Eag fans have respect for CP, mostly because of fans like you. Agree, 10-0 would be better than 3-0 :-)

I do not think either team has a defense that is going to stop the other team's offense much so if it comes down to offenses you have to give the edge to EWU. Cal Poly's only hope is if they can force a few turnovers. If I had to guess a score I would say 42-35 EWU.

G&P,
In case you haven't heard, Clay DeBorg is out until next game, he is still having problems from the concussion from Sac State. Everyone else will be ready for Cal Poly, with the exception of Cassidy Curtis, OL, and Shaq Hill WR. Nic Sblendorio and all looked great today at the Walk Thru. Rained most of the day on Wednesday, I stated in my truck. I am sure you have heard "Brown Sugar Melts" ;) ;) ;) , got my drift.? See you and your Brother tomorrow. Some Bleachers were place in the area of the Score Board today, which will help with attendance. Glad you are working at Mead High, there is where Vic Jr. stared, he has been at West Valley High about 15 years. He has PE, and help in about everything else. Last time I spoke to him, he was making a CD for his PE Classes. Vic
