http://www.standard.net/stories/2011/12/01/bovee-narrows-candidate-field-wsu-head-coachCurrent Weber State offensive coordinator Matt Hammer has a job offer in hand from Big Sky rival Sacramento State, but sources around the program say he is waiting to see whether he will be retained by the incoming Wildcats coach, whoever it may be.
Hammer is waiting to see who WSU selects as its next coach before he makes a decision on the Sac State offer. WSU has said they plan to make a HC selection by next week. Sounds like we will have to wait until then.
This guy sounds like he would really like to stay in Utah if possible. I think we should pass and keep looking, there has to me more qualified candidates out there at this time of year.
I agree, need somebody who wants to be here.
Who's to say he doesn't. Look he is doing what all of us do in our own professional fields: evaluate all offers. In this case with WSU, he wants to know if the incoming coach has the same offensive philosophy, or even trying to see if he can get more money to boot. Who wouldn't do that? We all would like to stay in the same place for a while because you start to put down roots, hassles of moving, etc. But if the offer for us is too good to pass up, he will come.
+1
Sometimes it pays-off to play the wait and see game. That is what is going on on both sides here. Sperbeck smartly moved quickly, now his waiting to see what develops at Weber St.
