Causeway Classic (Con't)

You guys have gone a tad over the top in this thread. Therefore, I've locked it. You can start another thread, but PLEASE tone the cr@p down.

On the football side of things, I'm calling for...

Hornets 24

Manure Pile 22

We're in trouble if the UCD pass game gets rolling, but our corners did a good job bending but not breaking last week... I think our LB core will keep the ailing UCD ground game in check. I also hope they can stress to the team how important it is that they go out as seniors with a WIN in the Causeway Classic.

I think Smith will pass for 240-280 yards and throw a couple TDs... Hilliard is hopefully healed up enough to resume his normal role. And, Croxdale I'm sure will be ready to hit the holes hard as usual. I'm not worried about Tony Washington having success either.

Now the SH is locking threads and waving even a bigger white flag. You guys are weak, must be that Sac State education. Just like the French...

Oh, now you've gone and done it! You can call my school second rate. You can use funny and insightful ways to replace the Sac in Sac State with Slack, Suc, or Ball Sack .You can even cite statistics proving your school's football superiority...but when you compare us to the French, my friend, that is when you have crossed some lines.

Hey Guys,

Just sitting here listening to the Aggie fight song. Looking forward to seeing the Aggies hand you guys your asses yet again. This is beginning to resemble a cupcake game instead of a rivalry. Maybe its time you guys returned to Division II or at this rate maybe Division III.

See you at the game, bitches.

I doubt that you will see too many Sac State fans at the game, it's sold out at like 10,800 in your Division III stadium which is a joke for a game like this. Some high school crowds are bigger than that. Hope to see you at Hornet Stadium next year where we actually have enough room to properly host the Causeway (20,800 in 1999). Lets hope that the next time the game is played in davis you will be able to add another 5,000 to 10,000 seats or move the game to Hughes Stadium to do this game justice.

Funny, I didn't see you at the game...? Maybe your were one of the manure pile faithful pouting from the moment we took the lead?

Hey Guys,

Well, you guys outplayed us tonight. Sac State is definately better than recent years past. Your middle backer #42 is a beast, seemed like he was everywhere.

We'll see you next year.

Congrats on the win last night. It was apparent from the get go that you wanted it more than we did. Enjoy the hardware, we will get it back next year. ;) Good luck the rest of the way in the Big Sky.

Aggie6thman,

Thanks for coming back with the props. I think Sperbeck said it right last night; this hasn't been a rivalry for a long time and now the rivalry is back. It was a great game in a great atmosphere. Your stadium was a pleasure to visit and is just wonderful.

You guys have had a great program for a long time. Hopefully, we have found the key with Coach Sperbeck and can keep the kind of coaching consistency around that you have had for so many years. We still have a long way to go, but I believe the tide has turned.

We've been outcoached for many years. Last night the players were ready and I saw adjustments being made that in the past never happened. Nonetheless, I was scared to death the last five minutes of the game that the Aggies would pull off a miracle. There is no quit in your team. Good luck with your finish this year.

I want to echo what HHD said. The reason why the game was still in doubt until Buck's intercept is because of Biggs and his staff. The Ags have always been well coached. Most times in the past, we have kind of beaten ourselves, usually do to coaching. We finally put it together yesterday. It was pins and needles in the stands yesterday in the fourth quarter and it seemed like an eternity because you know Davis never quits.

I cannot tell you how much this win means to our university, and for the community as a whole. HHD, when I saw Jon and Baiz both in tears on the field, my tears started as well. I know what they have gone through over the years and the pain and frustration over losing this game year after year.

I'll have more thoughts later in the week as I compose myself more, but the bottom line is, and Aggie6thman said it, we wanted it more.

Congrats to our Sacramento State Hornets!!!! 2008 Causeway Classic Champions!!!!!

there is no greater satisfaction than beating an arrogant, pompous, egotistical, i am-smarter-than-you opponent in their shiny new stadium.

davis had better watch out, they might find themselves getting beat by two STATE schools two weeks in a row!

WAY TO GO HORNETS!

The nice part is that in their new stadium:

1. They opened it by losing to division II Western Washington.
2. They lost their first "Golden Horseshoe" game to Cal Poly 63-28.
3. Now they lost their first Causeway Classic in it to us!
