Causeway Classic

Can anyone confirm or deny? Would be a shame, if true.

Starting in 2026, FCS teams will be able to schedule 12th games (instead of just every few years depending on where Labor Day lands).

Unless the BSC is moving to 9 conference games after we leave...

It makes perfect sense for this game to happen on Saturday, August 28th in "Week 0." If this game doesn't happen, it's purely because of but-hurttedness on the Dungpile's part IMO. They need to pickup a game anyways. And, why wouldn't they want a shot to "spoil" our first FCS Indy year with a cost effective, well attended home game?

Odd that they would pass on the most important and best attended game in the region and play two non scholarship Pioneer League schools. I understand the connection with San Diego, but Stenson a school with 3,000 students in Florida?

.....But keep believing what you guys want.

This isn't that deep, folks. Davis has 3 OOC games scheduled 2026, and FBS games already scheduled a few years out. The 2026 Stetson and USD games have been scheduled for like a year.

2026 SMU
2027 UCLA
2028 Washington State
2029 UCLA

If Sac is willing and able to pay Davis to play-up, I'm sure it'll happen when Davis is available. It has to make $$ sense for Davis. But Davis is already getting paid well over the next 3 seasons on the FBS side.

Fear has nothing to do with it. Davis was 10-2 vs. Sac during the D2 vs. I-AA matchup years ('92-'03?)........give or take a few years either way, it still wasn't pretty for Sac as the bigger program.

Nah you guys are avoiding us. It would take one call from your admin to the BSC brass to allow you guys to be one of the 8 game BSC teams next season to make space for this rivalry game on the '26 schedule. But I get it, I wouldn't want to risk facing a Hornet program potentially in its 2nd year under Coach Marion if I were you guys either. Guess this rivalry will resume in '27...if you guys can find your spine.

This reeks a lot like when your men's hoops program avoided that stacked Hornet program with Mikh McKinney and Dylan Garrity in the backcourt because it was too afraid to take that L in the Nest. Some things never change.

Davis already has a full slate of 3 OOC games and will have a full slate of Big Sky games in 2026. Looks like Davis is honoring its contracts/commitments to the BSC and OOC opponents. Hopefully there is a game in 2027, but things look pretty different when Sac ends up in the FBS. Can't blame Davis, the relationship becomes more transactional at that point.

In the short term, the scheduling issues Sac has created for themselves by leaving the Big Sky is not a Davis problem.

I smell BS, par for davis. You could buy out Stetson or whatever other patsy you have as OCC. Sac hosting with 25,000 fans or Davis hosting 5,500 fans against Stetson. I am sure we will give you good receipts to come to Sac.

F UCD. If they don’t want the smoke then we focus on paydays instead.

They would definitely be turning down $$$ to play Stetson at home, versus us on the road. AND, huge loss of the opportunity to show us up in front of key area recruits. I say screw em if they don't want to keep it going.

You guys are never going to believe anything that comes out of Davis on scheduling, as expected.

Just like nobody in the country believes anything coming out of Sac regarding the Stadium/FBS stuff at this point.

I'm guessing the game is back on in 2027.....but you guys keep it going with the victim complex. Even if Davis was "avoiding" you, it shouldn't hurt this deep.....I mean we are JV, right? For a program obsessed with FBS, they sure are spending a lot of time worried about an FCS game.

Nobody should be falling to pieces over what is likely a one-year break in the series.

You and the other Yolo’ites are still missing the point: this is an ANNUAL community event. So that just means Rocko doesn’t believe in being an active community member. I get it.

Shame on you and the others there for condoning this behavior! 👎

Oh one more thing, contracts can be broken! Don’t give me some excuse about not breaking it.
