CBI: WSU @ Oregon

OK. Whats done is done.

If we ever end up in the CBI again, I would say that they ow us one. You never know what has gone on behind closed doors or what will go on in the future. I trust that Jerry and Randy are looking out for our best interest. At least in the long run. :coffee:

Agreed. Hopefully, the Cats show up tomorrow night and get a W on a Pac10 teams floor.

Here's a link to an article in the Eugene Post Guard talking about the Wildcats and the upcoming game. Focuses on the adversity and injuries the Wildcats have endured while still achieving success. Includes comments from Randy Rahe regarding the home game take-away.

ya know still a little pissed about losing our home game to these guys but that was a great article. They actually gave us a little credit we deserve. Nice find on that article! :thumb:

"Still, Bullinger has had to deal with both of his ankles hurting. Senior guard Lindsey Hughey is “playing at 75 percent” in Rahe’s estimation due to an injured ankle. Brian Mahoney, a 6-foot-8 junior, has dealt with a strained calf muscle most of the season."

Who is Brian Mahoney? :?

Brian is his imaginary brother lol :lame:

Not to sound all negative and stuff but this WSU team sucks on the road this year. I know it is because this team is so young and playing without anybody at 100%. That being said, I think WSU would beat Oregon any day of the week here in Ogden, but up in Oregon I just dont see it happening.
WSU 11-2 in the DEE this year :thumb:
6-9 on the road
Oh well all these young kids will only continue to grow and learn from all of this.

Will Brian be 100% for the Ducks?

Weber's struggles on the road go beyond this year. Weber is a combined 4-24 in true non-conference road games vs D1 opponents during the Rahe era. Ugh! And none of the wins are very impressive. Southern Utah (twice), Cal St Bakersfield, and Portland. I have zero confidence that Weber wins this game.

I'm hoping to see Weber pull off the unthinkable, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Cats come home with another L. I'm hoping the Cats play well and give it their all.

I don't understand why Rahe's teams have been so bad against OCC teams? Also, Rahe's teams have been terrible in March. Still I love coach!! His teams are always awesome in December, January, and February.

Which of those True road ooc losses were we suppose to win

06-07 losses at USU, SUU, Utah, Washington
07-08 losses at Illinois, Byu, San Fransisco 67-65, New Mexico
08-09 losses at LBSU 73-69, USU, Utah, Southern Miss, Arizona, SDSU
09-10 losses at UCSB,Seattle, Byu, UNLV, USU, Cincinnati
10-11 losses at USU, Utah, Tulsa, SJSU, St. Mary's

** Seattle was a bad loss, but they had Garcia
** UCSB is a tournament team 2 yrs running led by Robbie Johnsons bro Orlando
** Tulsa Lillard gets hurt lose in OT
** SJSU led by 2 5th yr Seniors who finshed WAC much stronger than they started
** LBSU we got paybacks that season and we won by 11 at the Dee

The loses to DI teams on Neutral courts have been frustrating too, but those are usually really early in the year, when the team hasn't meshed yet: Youngstown St., Miami Oh, and ASU; not to mention San Bernardino (DII).

However, I like what you wrote Skeeter, it was a great reminder that Weber faces some pretty tough challenges in their OOC schedule. Also, lets not forget that in a number of those contests Weber had the lead and probably should have won (USF, LBSU, USU twice, Tulsa, and maybe Arizona) or were ridiculously and shamelessly homored (USU 2 times, Utah 2011, BYU 2008, UCSB 2010, and Southern Miss 2009).

As for this 2011 late season losses...personally, I think our team is beat up, tired, and ready for a long and needed six month break.

Without saying that Weber should have won any of these games, I would at the least say these losses were winnable games:

06-07 at Utah (went 11-19), S Utah (16-14)
07-08 at San Francisco (10-21)
08-09 at Long Beach St (15-15)
09-10 at Seattle (17-14)
10-11 at Utah (13-18), Tulsa (19-13), San Jose St (17-15)

I agree that the schedule has been difficult, but any way you spin it 4-24 (.143) is a pretty awful record. If Montana can win at Pauley Pavilion, why can't Weber win some big non-conference road games?

Tulsa Bamforth and Lillard hurt
SJSU Bamforth and Lillard hurt
Utah, I sat front row in November and witnessed the most awful officiated game I've ever seen We had no chance. Utah shot and made the most Free Throws in the history of the Huntsman Center... The Ute crowd was so tired of it that they started chanting let them play loudly when Clyburn was at the line.....

Anyone can dissect or create a category and spin it to sound awful

-True -Road -OOC -Losses = .143

my gripe if I have one is losing 2 yrs in a row on our home floor in the conference tourney, and only making the NCAA's 1 out of the last 5 years.....

The reason I dissected these games is because that is what the Oregon game is. And I wasn't just creating some small insignificant category. Non-conference road games are a significant and important part of each year's schedule. Maybe Weber is making their non-conference schedule too difficult. I know the argument can be made that these difficult games will make them better later, but many of these games have been blow outs and some of these teams won't return home games. How about focusing the out of state non-conference games on more winnable games against teams that will agree to return the home game.
