Might as well get this one started. I think our Eagles will be hungry after coming up short to Nevada:

CWU stays with us until mid way through the 3d, but then the Eagles step on the gas and don't look back. Jones has 150+ yards on the ground and another 50 in receptions. Mitchell throws for 250+ and 3 td's.

EWU 38
CWU 21

41-10...hoping defense plays possesed and QB/WR's are crisp. Here's to CWU trying to keep up with the Jones(s).

I like the idea of playing a game in Seattle - hopefully there will be more folks there for this game than there were to watch us smack down PSU last year.

This is a game that should never be close but almost always is. I expect that we will come out fairly conservatively and try to run the ball a lot, and then open up the play-book the following week against Montana. Defense will have a big game, with at least two forced turn-overs.

Eagles - 42
CWU - 21

EWU 42
CWU 10

EWU's defense is alot better than many think. Bo Levi gets on track with his WR in this one as well. Go Eagles!!!

What the hell happened to our defense ? Where was Sherritt ? Where was Williams ? our strengh was supposed to be our L B's wow ! This could be a LONG year if this is what to expect from our defense ! Only good in that game was the suspect OL, Mitchell had all day out there and TJ had huge holes to run through ! But man am I dissapointed in the defense and Special Teams ! Please say we can fix this or this is gonna be a LONG year !!! GOEAGS !

I wasn't surprised. Nevada is primarily a running team, but played to our weakness, which this year is our secondary. I still believe that our strength defensively this year will be our line and our lb corp. Fair points as to where Sherritt and Williams were, but let's not forget how good a team Nevada is offensively. They dropped 70 points on Idaho last year, 63 on UNLV, 62 on San Jose State, 52 on Fresno State, 63 on New Mexico State, and even 33 on Boise State in a loss, with basically the same personnel as they have this year. You can be sure that they would hang at least 49 points on just about every other Big Sky team.

I knew they would score a lot of points, but the real questions for me are on offense. Taiwan is Taiwan and he's going to get his numbers no matter what. But what I don't want is for us to get too one-dimensional, which is what happened against Nevada. Nevada's secondary is not good and our receivers were beating them all day long; there are defenses in the BSC better than that. We should have been far more effective than we were with the pass. Our timing on intermediate and long routes was way off between the receivers and QB, and this needs to get fixed, and fixed quickly. We can't just continue to throw quick-hitters and passes to the flats all day long and expect to be effective. We need people to respect a deep threat capability which I know we have, but has not surfaced yet. Good news was no picks. I expect that this was just first game kinks and some communication issues......nothing more. The good news is that we have the CWU game to build some confidence and get some of this worked out prior to the big home opener against Montana. I think we should beat CWU fairly convincingly, but you can never count them out, they are a good Division II team that should be respected. That said, I am sure Coach Baldwin will have the boys focused, especially with a couple of extra days.

Let's go Eags..........get it done!

I'd pile on our defense for the way they opened the game, but they seemed to find their sealegs later on. I heard both Jolley and Renard are beat up a bit but should play.

This has all the making of a trap game, with us looking forward and Central looking for legitimacy against a bigger opponent. I don't like this game on the schedule, as it seems useless to put a D-II opponent on who is better than a lot of the lower-tier FCS teams we could be playing instead.

Still, I think this is our game to lose, and if we foucs in on it, we should win easily enough.

They did settle down but then turned around and gave up that last minute TD before the half ! Jolley played a good game but didn't hear from Williams until they moved him back inside ! Still the LB's were nowhere to be seen and Nevada couldv'e been had, learning curve, hope so. CWU will be a good test but if we play up to our potential shouln't be a problem !! Gotta love the fact the Griz moved up to #1, should still be there come game day !!! GOEAGS!!!

I don't think Central is gonna be too much of a problem for us this time around. They're typically a great team, and probably still are, but so far it looks like they're in a down year. They were #5 opening at home against #4 Minnesota-Duluth, and got beat soundly, 35-10. Then last weekend they only put away Dixie State, a 4 win team from 2009, by a score of 24-10. They've been playing two QBs.

I'll stand by my score of 52-24... but they'll put up 10 of it in garbage time after we start subbing.

this certainly is a trap game, if you look at the d2 message board, most central fans feel this game is in the bag for them. I feel in the end, we will pull away and win by 3 touchdowns, even if the first half is a struggle

CWU is a difficult team to judge year to year because they bring in so many transfers (20+ this year) but they play a more traditional brand of offense than did Nevada which should help in the game prep and our predictions. As an aside, for those who have been disparaging last week's defensive effort I would point out that Nevada routinely ripped off 70-80 yard runs against some big name teams last year and by and large that didn't happen against us. I have no doubt that both teams will be ready to play, there will be more people in the stands than last year (how could I miss on that prediction when PSU only mustered 200), and that the boys will be more settled down and ready for business. Hard hitting on both sides, and EWU prevails 34-17.

You wanna post a link to their board? :D

Here's a link to the D2 GNAC message board. Some of them seem to think CWU is playing Eastern Oregon. But most are predicting a CWU win.

Here is my prediction based on what I have seen and read this year. CWU beat Dixie St by 10 and Dixie State was beaten by Adams State by 20 and University of Northern Colorado beat Adams State last weekend 54-0 so with what has happened the past 2 weeks I predict EWU 49-CWU-7. It should not be that close. I watched Adams St. vs UNC and they did not have a chance. Only gained 104 yard the entire game.

But this is not the same UNC people have been used to seeing in the Big Sky, this team has come a long way from the past few years. So anything short of a blowout should be a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. Go Eagles!!!!!!

They think this game is in the bag based on what, exactly? The fact that they beat us in 2006, our worst team in more than a decade? That team had a ton of Freshman on it. We were horrible that year and they still barely beat us. Don't get me wrong, I think they will play a tough game against us and this game shouldn't be dismissed. But you've gotta kinda laugh at some of the homer predictions on there.

They're going to be in for a major reality check after TJ blows by them for 50+ yard TD.

All we need to do is come out with solid execution on both sides of the ball and the rest will take care of itself. I'll be happy to come out of this game with a W and no serious injuries.

Wow, about 4 out of every 5 Central fans seriously expects them to win the game. That blows me away. It's not completely out of the realm of possibility, but it would be a shocker. You didn't see 80% of people on this site predicting a win against Nevada, which is what it would be comparable to...

I think that the EWU fans are putting to much credibility in this years team so soon! They couldn't compete against a terrible Nevada defense ,so what makes you think they will be ready for a D2 team with a #1 team on the next weeks radar ? This is gonna be tough game and if EWU thinks theyr'e gonna run roughshod over Centrals "D" they better think again !! "If "they don't approach this game with urgency it commands, they will be zippo for the start and could end up 0 and 6 before they figure out what hit them !! GO EAGS BUT don't take CWU for granted !! They think they can win! and thats half the battle.......
