Kaydee, communication is a two way street. If a parent has a real concern about their kid, they should reach out to the coaches. Granted this isn't high school, and at this point in a young man's life they need to learn to take care of things on there own. After all, this is division one football and the coaches are not there to babysit these young men, or their parents.
