The San Francisco 49ers possess arguably the best tight end in the NFL in George Kittle, but they may be looking for a backup in the 2020 NFL draft, which begins Thursday.
The 49ers conducted a FaceTime interview with former Portland State Vikings tight end Charlie Taumoepeau, according to a report. The 49ers were one of four teams - Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals - who have conducted a virtual interview with Taumoepeau, according to the report.

#Portland TE (and Senior Bowl participant) Charlie Taumoepeau has recently held pre-draft meetings over FaceTime with #Packers, #49ers, #Cardinals & #Falcons.
The 6-3, 245-pound Taumoepeau posted 36 catches, 474 yards and two touchdowns during the 2019 season, earning his second consecutive selection to the All-Big Sky Conference first team squad. Taumeopeau caught 117 passes for 1,876 yards and 11 touchdowns over 41 games and 28 starts.
Taumoepeau played both tight end and H-back for Portland State, making him an intriguing prospect for the 49ers. Taumoepeau could potentially be the backup to Kittle at tight end and Kyle Juszczyk at the H-back position.
Taumeopeau is projected as a late round selection or possibly signed as an undrafted free agent.
