Chris Harriel

Maybe Chris is just looking because no school is listed by his name on the transfer list.
If indeed Chris is transferring to another school to play ball it would have to be with the permission of the PSU coach/administration. If he transfers to another school without permission he can attend that school but can't play for a year. I know several athletes that transferred without permission and had to sit out a year before they could play for the new team. Unless the NCAA rules have changed a player must also have permission to talk with other coaches.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a D1 to D1 transfer requires sitting for a year regardless of permission.

Moot unless he's dropping down in division.

Could be a hit on the APR if this is true.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but a D1 to D1 transfer requires sitting for a year regardless of permission."

You are correct, but there are exceptions to the rule:
"If the student-athlete has never transferred before from a four-year school and meets academic requirements, that student-athlete might be able to use the one-time transfer exception (except in baseball, basketball, men’s ice hockey or football)."

Another is if a school drops a sport then students are then allow to transfer without sitting out a year.

Obviously, Chris doesn't meet the exception rules.

Reminds me of 6-8 Kyle Coston transferring, one of the victors in Portland State's greatest win against #7 Gonzaga at the Kennel in Spokane. I believe he ended up transferring to a private Christian college. Might Chris Harriel also be looking for such an arrangement? Attending those schools costs a fortune and the combination of nice digs and scholarship might attract a talented student athlete like him.

I wonder.

But, that asks the question: what does a school like that have that PSU doesn't? I understand that more money is obvious, but I doubt a small college would have much more of an arena than Stott, especially at the D-II or D-III level.

Just noticed that he is no longer listed on the team roster on goviks.com. With the way he started this year, I was looking forward to seeing him play for a couple of more seasons.

If he does leave, I'm glad I got to see him go crazy late in the season against Montana, where he threw down a pretty good dunk and clanged a few in soectacular fashion. Too bad we won't see any more of that tenacious play this next season with our returning players if they play to their same tendencies. :(

Chris signed with UCR he had to have surgery for a ruptured tendon in his right thumb he had a cast on all summer . he said fell on it in the Lamae game and again mid season playing Weber St and it just got worse they wouldn't get it looked at till he couldn't move his thumb then the trainer sent him to have it looked at but by then it was to late it was tore . saw him Sunday he looks good said he ready to go
