1140am radio with Mike Lamb sometime between 3 and 7pm. It might be interesting to hear what he has to say about last week and how he sees the Eastern Washington game shaping up.

Sac Rat said:Anyone up for joining me in writing Mike Lamb and asking 1140 to post the audio for those interviews at http://www.sports1140.com/Grant-and-Mike/4802174. They do post that school across the causeway Coach Biggs' interviews. You can email them at [email protected].
As for an apology for lack of effort, Sperbeck doesn't owes you or us anything. But, I sure would like to see you stand before him and the players and question their effort.

Thank you Sac Rat.....The majority of the posters on this site have only watched from the sidelines (never played) and have no idea just what it takes and how much effort this team has put forth thus far. Go Hornets and Thank you Sperbeck for turning this program around.

What excuse did we have last year at Idaho State. We clearly had better talent. You only have to perform on 11 days each year. 2 are now gone. So just because EWU may not be be UNLV or CP, we are capable of laying an egg no matter who we play. Remember, it all starts at the top. I'm willing to support this staff for another week! I respect the players for all their work and effort, they are only following the leaders.
Go Hornets!!!
The Green Hornet said:In case you didn't hear Coach Sperbecks' radio interview, here is a synopsis of it:
They knew Cal Poly was a very good football team going in and they proved it. They're ranked 12th in the nation for a reason. He thought offensively they were similar to past teams and their D was a little different, but a team still needs to execute and they did.
He said Cal Poly took away our running game and we had to depend more on the pass and our timing isn't there yet; we need more time for that to come and the bye week is helping. He added that he thought the WR's had some good moments and the only two players he mentioned by name were Hendershott (sp?) and Willis.
He thought our D-line played well, the best of any group; CP hurt us on our perimeter and the option was hard to defend, plus the loss of Gordon fairly early didn't help. The LB's made more plays than the UNLV game.
He thinks the team needs to pay more attention to the little details in all phases; that we were sloppy in some instances and that hurt us. We have to become more efficient in our timing, footwork and techniques. He thinks we had a lot of successful plays, but we need to be more consistent in that regard, so the coaches and players look at the times they failed and seek to correct those mistakes.
He conccluded the interview, which was about ten minutes, by adding that we had a real good practice on Tuesday and that the team is getting better.
I like his attitude. He's upbeat and positive, but not over the top and he doesn't seem to get too low either. He made no prediction reference the EWU game except to say that our team is improving. It's not an easy job, to say the least.
Sac Rat said:"What excuse did we have last year at Idaho State. We clearly had better talent." I agree that Sac State should have beat Idaho State, but good grief. This is college sports and you are dealing with kids, not professionals. Why did Michigan lose to APU? Or, why did Michigan State lose to Central Michigan last weekend? Why did the more talented teams lose? It happens. And no, they don't have to only perform 11 days out of the year. They have to perform every day on the practice field and in the classroom. It is called life. You have good days and bad days. Where was all your complaining during the Moosh era?

1985 for me. Imagine the pain and suffering.
When aren't we young? Every year a class leaves so you always have a rotational replacement to step up. This is the third recruiting class, we should have depth and these players who came on board three years ago should be ready. Plus the LB's who just graduated were Moosh recruits, so he must not have done too bad a job in recruiting and didn't leave the cupboard bare.
Guess what, next year we will have new players again, are we then young again for the excuse?
We need to get better players (coaches) who can handle life better if they only have to perform 11 days out of the year. Yes they have practice and class and taxes, but if you paid top dollar to see the opera and the person singing hit off notes or ran out of breath, you wouldn't go back. It's called preparation and having the right people in the roles needed.
There was only ONE senior on offense and FOUR seniors on defense for Cal Poly. And they had a completely new coaching staff. Were they also young?
Take your glasses off...you got to be joking! If not I'd love to know what kool-aid your drinking.Hammerhead Dad said:Hornet Homer said:I agree with HHD, EWU will not be the same caliber as the last two teams we played. Go Hornets!!!
The team is young. Check out the roster. More experienced teams with veteran players tend to play better. Example: linebackers from last year had ton's of experience. Now provided you have excellent young players, which I believe the Hornets do, they will learn quickly and we will be very competitive.
If you don't think Sperbeck has moved this program forward, then you need to take off, not your glasses, but your blindfold.
