Weber was picked 9th in the coach's pole and 10th by the media. Considering how we have performed over the last couple of years, having all new coaches, and how young our players are, that sounds about right. I hope that our guys prove them wrong, and we do better than that, but respect is earned. They will have to go out and win a few games to get any respect from the coaches and media in the BSC.

One thing is for sure, there won't be a lot of scouting on us until we are well into the season. IMHO, the margins for winning and losing are so small that coaching and enthusiasm can get you through some of the close games. I feel that we can outperform our expectations. What that looks like at the end of the season, who knows?

The ranking makes sense. I don’t see them finishing that low, though. I think enthusiasm and good coaching can make an immediate impact. I was also shocked in the NAU game the talent and effort that didn’t see the field much with Mickey at the helm. The margin is so thin. The first few weeks are key. If they can win on the road vs Northern Colorado and SUU, or even take one, that could launch a good year coming off last year’s debacle. If they lose both, it’s probably a more modest improvement.

I think @Colorado @Montana State, UC Davis, and @NAU are losses. NAU could be an outside shot. I think Northwestern State, Portland State, @Cal Poly, and Utah Tech could be slight edge Weber State. That leaves the toss-up four of @Northern Colorado, @SUU, Idaho State, and Idaho.

Honestly, I think 6-6 is a possibility with 7-5 not out of reach if the season starts off well. I think 4-8 is my prediction for basement if it starts off poorly. So probably a 5-7 or 6-6 by odds evening out…but what the hell, I’ll go with 7-5 as a ray of light since the rest of things are going to hell in a hand basket.
