Thanks for the qb info from the coaches show......is there any other information that you can share regarding the topics, statements, and attitudes that came out?

I did not get a chance to hear the show so I'm awaiting the podcast to be posted. I did however hear that Troy asked him why he put Baca in and Collins said something like "to give him a chance". Wth?? The kid has to prove himself in 1 series?? I can't imagine the pressure going into a game cold and trying to prove yourself in 3 snaps. Seriously, what was the point? Coach you are 1-13, stop with the ridiculousness.

Yeah, he mentioned it was pre-planned and I thought WTF?

Once the Broncos game started I kind of tuned it out a bit. I plan on listening to it later and will let you know if anything else stands out (I recorded it on TuneIn radio).

So I listened to the podcast of the coaches show last night and here's my take.

First I would like to give props to Troy for the continuing attempt to make this show interesting despite the horrible year and half we all had to endure. Can't be easy to sit there and ask questions as if we are about to turn the corner on the program. With that being said.....you fail to ask the tough questions and pursue an answer satisfactory to you and the fans. You mention you read the message boards, so you know the hot topic on the table is the quarterback position. Yet you failed to pursue that avenue. His answer to the Baca question was weak and you allowed him to dodge the entire question. It's like cat crap under the table, everyone smells it but nobody wants to deal with it. Also, don't make comments like you do about how "you know and the Coach knows" but the "average" fan doesn't understand. Don't insult our intelligence regarding the game of football.

Coach Collins said his program has come along way since a year ago. I certainly hope so! There's a big difference between being with the kids 6 months and 18 months. Glad you can check that one off your list of accomplishments. The discussion regarding the two personal fouls against Tonye-Tonye. I agree the first one was a matter of just being too aggressive, it's football it happens and I don't think there's an issue with that one. But the second foul where he punched a guy, that is inexcusable. Yet there is no punishment by the Coach. This is where you send a message to the team! This is unacceptable! To say "well he's never been hit like that before"...... he's a football player, of course he has been hit like that.....many times I'm sure. What a dumb answer.

Coach Collins said that Baca was put in there for an "opportunity to throw the ball around"? He had 3 snaps, 1 for pass and 2 for run, which included a 3rd and long run. Not much of an opportunity in my opinion.

Coach Collins.....you are the head coach and ultimately responsible for every decision that is made on that team. Your decisions and lack thereof will cost you your job at the end of the season. Start saving boxes.

Working on it. Someone was forgetful last night.

As for bearcrawls complaints: I have to walk a line between what you think should be asked and what is tactful for the situation. If coach gets upset and walks out, I don't have a show for that night and I don't have a job for long. And I'm not insulting your intelligence. I'm pointing out that there are things you don't see that I do. Nature of the job.

The long answer to the Baca story? He's a Cali guy who nearly lost his career on that field two years ago. Coach was showing him respect for what he did to come back and to be a good teammate.

Tonye-Tonye didn't throw a punch. If he had, he would have been suspended by the conference. NCAA rules.

Interviews are never as easy you think they should be. Its why you'll see me prepared with an outline before I sit down with coach.
