As great as they have been not so sure they are a huge step up. Also you have to ask yourself what is left in the cabinets before you would consider taking this job.
FINALLY . . . It is still Boise. I enjoyed my short stay their, but it's still Boise. . . . and last time I checked it is still in IDAHO.

Ok when you put it that way maybe. . .only if he donates a mill to the gateway project as he heads out. . .but I honestly thinks and knows that he will never coach for a Chipper there . . .as a coach that is what would drive me . . .as well as the :twocents:clawman said::ugeek:Seriously???EWU98 said:clawman said:Any thoughts on who might take Petersons job?

In the article it noted Peterson would make 2,348,000. in 2014. I could live in Idaho for 1/2 of that even 10% of that. In fact 1/2 of Petersons pay would still almost equate to a 10 fold increase in what Beau makes now.
Scary but I wonder if a program like BSU would be willing to take a chance on an FCS coach.

Just to be clear, Boise State is nowhere near meeting the academic requirements of the Pac-12, so joining that conference has never been an option. One of the deciding factors for the Big 12 schools staying put when they were extended an offer from the Pac-12 was that there would be no cost associated with adding academic programs and research money by staying put. Of the schools pursued by the Pac-12, I believe only OK State actually met the academic criteria of the conference. Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Baylor fell short of what was required and would have needed to make a sizeable investment to join. Of the Western schools, only Colorado State is not in the Pac-12 and presently meets the requirements to join.
BYU could eventually be considered, as they are extremely close--- they'd only need to add a couple of programs to meet the criteria.
But Boise is not even remotely close...

BSU is one of the few proven west coast commodities outside the PAC-12 with the financial support, branding, and facilities to have a long term competitive advantage for both recruiting and winning.
That being said, I'd still be surprised if they didn't go after a name with FBS pedigree first. They obviously have the budget given what Peterson was going to make.
