When Ena was last here the players loved him and wanted to overachieve to please him...a real players coach which will bring great things in the future. Welcome back!

Good find SloStang and welcome Troy Taylor. So he's a co-coach at powerhouse Folsom High School bringing a lot of experience at the QB position (which I imagine will be his primary job along with Co-Co-Co-Offensive coord.) Looks like a great hire...wonder if Baldwin knows him from somewhere?

He should also enhance that southern California pipeline.

Yep, Norcal, where Eastern already has a very strong recruiting presence. I'm guessing that was at least a consideration of this hire. I like that he already has experience coaching at the Division I level, albeit a while ago. Welcome aboard, coach!

Cut from the same cloth as Baldwin.... New top HC in waiting candidate should Coach B move on to bigger things... Along with Ena and moving the other coach to DL from TE's (both DL guys), expect a quantum leap in improvement in the little things that will make a big impact. Cannot wait.

Here's a great article on the hire.

Taylor is graduating from the spread-offense of Folsom to a very similar look in college, just bigger, faster and more complex. Taylor isn’t leaving because he was restless at Folsom, or bored with going 14-1 or 16-0 each season.

He’s leaving because Eastern Washington came calling, and he deemed it an opportunity too grand to pass up. This new marriage started through a strong reference by Washington Huskies coach Chris Petersen to Eastern Washington coach Beau Baldwin.

For years, Petersen has admired Taylor’s ability to teach the game, coach the game and mold players. Washington’s quarterback last season was freshman Jake Browning of Folsom High School. Baldwin visited Taylor at Folsom, and then Taylor spent several days in Cheney with the coaching staff. It all clicked.

Baldwin cannot talk about Taylor until the new coach arrives on campus, the school said. But others spoke highly of Taylor.

Taylor has experienced college before, of course. After winning Bee Player of the Year honors at Cordova in 1985, Taylor set passing records at Cal. He dabbled in assistant coaching gigs at Colorado and Cal in the 1990s, then settled at Folsom to raise a family and groom a program. Working alongside co-coach Kris Richardson, a close friend, Folsom went 58-3 since 2012 with four Sac-Joaquin Section championships and the CIF State Division I title in 2014.

And another.

http://www.folsomtelegraph.com/article/1/23/16/troy-taylor-leaving-folsom-eastern-washington-university" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

“I met with Beau for four or five hours and gave him my philosophy and flew up to Washington and met the staff and it reminded me a lot like Folsom,” Taylor said. “The humility, the drive, the environment, the willingness to work. It’s a good fit.

Broke passing records at Cal, built a HS program based on the spread offense and comes with prior college coaching experience. It would seem that he is an absolutely perfect fit to run our offense and his hire will only strengthen EWU's recruiting ties to the Bay Area.

My main question is who will be calling the plays, Baldwin or Taylor?

I'm starting to get pumped thinking about what this guy is going to bring to our offense...and QB development. :rockon:

Looks like Zak Hill is already leaving Hawaii. Boise State is in the process of hiring him as their OC/QB coach.

Wow, quite a development. I wonder if this might be part of the reason we were able to land Barriere. I wonder if Hill offers him a Boise St. scholarship now.
