If the goal is FBS then you take any FBS ticket you can get. CUSA isn't as desirable as PAC or MW, but its a ticket to the dance so you take it if that is the only offer on the table this cycle. It's that simple.
Key words are this cycle. PAC is still only at 7 football members (they need at least 1 current FBS member) MW is at 8 football members with the phags likely to be the 9th at some point. 8 football members means a 7 game conference schedule leaving 5 non-conference games to be scheduled for each of its members. 9 football members would be ideal. Both of those conferences will likely add members for scheduling and content purposes (TV deal). Point being there will be slots to fill at some point for the PAC and MW.
During the next realignment cycle (in 5+ years), you aim for a move into a vacated slot in the MW (UNLV likely gets poached by PAC) or the PAC depending on how realignment at that time shakes out. Folks, you need to think a move or two down the line. Dr. Wood absolutely has to take a CUSA invite if that is all that is on the table to be taken. No brainer move.
Oly's in the BW...meh who cares, football is driving the bus and with the Kings being the prime hoops ticket in town it really doesn't matter where the Hornets awful hoops programs are parked.
