Coaching Staff?

Is there any word on the coaching staff? I did hear some of the Valor Staff will be joining? What about some college experience?

Good question. I am hoping that Troy will have another coaches show with E.M. after this week where he will get into more details on that. I hope he goes for an experienced college staff with some FCS/FBS experience.

I would love to see him bring Scott Zimmerman with him from Valor. He is one of the all-time great UNC players. Maybe Ben Hamilton too, just to fix the o-line problems.

Coaches convention is Jan. 12-14. We probably won’t hear much until after that. And if he does pluck someone from a current gig, if it’s a lateral move, they usually stay at their old job through signing day.

I’m most curious about the coordinators and the S&C coach.

So apparently Mark McMillian was offered a coaching job at UNC. He is a former NFL player that is a coach and recruiter for the Blue-Grey football game. Interesting to say the least.

He seems like he would have some great connections for recruiting, which is where we need the most help. Any idea if he would be a position coach or an O/D coordinator or other as well?

I'm liking all the news coming out lately!

Not sure. It was posted on twitter by someone who covers UNLV (@markanderson64) and retweeted by Aaron Rath. Mark McMillian's twitter is focused on the Blue-Grey All American bowl this week which makes sense (he is the DB coach for the Blue team).

Looks like McMillian will be coaching the DBs.

Footballscoop.com is reporting English has not be retained, Max McCaffrey will coach receivers and former CSU OC Baldwin will be the new OC.

Saw that posted on twitter. Bummer about English, he would be s good bridge to have.

These coaching choices are pretty dang good. Curious as to who the DC will be. Just talking to my dad and he really likes Baldwin. Met him a few times at CSU and says he's a good guy.

I like the experience so far across the college and pro ranks, the one thing some have said about Coach McCaffrey is he hasn’t coached at the college level, surrounding yourself with experienced coaches that have makes up for that, I like what I see so far!

I'm also disappointed that coach English will not be on the new staff. I'm not excited about Dave Baldwin, but if his hiring means getting out of that horrible so-called spread that was tried last year, I'm all for the new hiring.

UNC was 122 out of 124 teams in FCS for total defense, change is needed

This is just really exciting. Hopefully once he announces the staff to the players he will sit down with Troy for a coaches show.

I totally agree, this is the most excited and optimistic I've been about this program basically since I started at UNC in 08. I'm also excited to see what improvements we might see with the facilities. (Come on stadium lights!)
