Coaching Staff

Sounds like he might bring a couple of lower level coaches with him from Hawaii, but either way, the emphasis will be on people who already know the offense.

I really hope he keeps Lupfer as DC. We've had a great defense the past few years, and the players obviously like playing for him.

I sure hope he keeps Lupfer. The point about 3/4 versus 4/4 may be an issue as someone brought up before, but hopefullly things work out.

I'd like to see Lupfer stick around too. He can help JG out on Big Sky foes, recruiting, PSU, etc. I'm sure he'd be open to learning a new defensive alignment. I hope they don't get hung up on job titles.

Alternatively, there are openings now at Hawaii. That would be a great career move for some PSU coaches.

he is looking for another DC at that level

Glanville knows how to play politics. And he knows how to get the votes. He also knows how to win. He'll probably keep your key personnel, as long as they want to stay onboard, and teach them the 3-4. For the most part Glanville will call the strategies based on what the guy in the booth upstairs sees. Chances are Glanville already ordered one of his infamous gang-tackle bags for the team. Techniques for blocking are the same. Tackling, as well. Gang tackling? Well that's a Glanville speciality.

Mouse Davis isn't a lower level coach from Hawaii. Study your PSU history! Jeeze! MD pioneered the run-and-shoot in PSU's backyard and Hawaii's head coach, June Jones was his QB. You got THE guru of run-and-shoot, and THE guru of the gritz-blitz. You got a whole lot of incredible NCAA and NFL history right there in your athletic dept.

You seriously need to calm down. I'm well aware of PSU history and Mouse's place in it. I wasn't referring to Mouse. I was reporting on what I'd overheard at On Deck the other night where some key people involved with recent events were discussing potential hires. Everyone there was assuming the Mouse will be OC, and they were talking about lower level people from Hawaii's current staff filling some position coaching spots for PSU.

I think JG will search for others on the mainland, I don't think JJ would allow everyone to just leave on him

I hope we keep lupfer, and start looking over at schools like UO and OSU for coaches

The only way PSU will be able to get D-1 coaches to come is if they want to coach for JG. Competitive salaries doesn't mean we'll be able to offer what UO and OSU can.

Jerry Glanville, who is set to hire Mouse Davis as offensive coordinator, called to say he isn't done raiding the UH coaching staff.
"I'm going to call the Hawai‘i AD on Monday and ask for permission to interview June," Glanville said. "It's worth a shot

Quote from tsai's blog

Honestly, he is wasting his time, JJ won't leave UH, to many athletes have made big risks just to stay for JJ's sake(i.e Brennan)

Can't you tell when JG is joking? Tongue in cheek? This is part of the fun of JG!
