JG is onto a fast start

JG has also pffered Reinbold at UH a position but JR doesn't sound to enthused

On another UH has 4 DC canidates all with NFL expeirence, so maybe shot at JR is possible

How about this article, reinbold is a canaidate for our vacant DC postion, and to be very honest, he would be the best canaidate for the position(yes over lupher)

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'll admit that I'm biased for Lupfer since I'm a PSU honk, but what he's done over the past couple years is pretty great.

PSU only gave up 18.4 points per game (24th) and they played three D1A (BCS) teams. The offense put them in huge holes on many occasions that led to short fields for the other teams. If PSU's offense hadn't been so hurt and out of sync, this would have been statistically the best defense to play or have played at Portland State University. That being said, I credit Lupfer for it...

Very True, all depends on what JG wants

Lupfer a Proven Defensive mind, or Reinbold who drew over 10 High School and JC All-Americans to Hawaii

Recruiting or Proven DC? Tough choice

Honestly I'm surprised that Lupfer has not received offers from other D1AA schools as a candidate for head coach.

Interesting quote about Glanville not wanting divided loyalties among fans and players.
I really liked Lupfer, probably more than any coach on the staff. But I do respect Glanville's desire to build a staff around his own style/mission.
Gotta feel for Lupfer, though...third kid just arrived, no coaching prospects on the horizon. I bet he gets offers quickly, though.

Very true. But JG has a point, as hard as the players might not understand it. Keeping Lupfer could create divisions as he said, and I wonder if the players hadn't had signs asking to keep him as HC or we're walking at the BB game if this might of turned out differently. Deal with it now I guess. As opposed to having issues down the road. Just my thoughts...

Yeah, in the end I don't think those t-shirts helped Lupfer's case.

Interesting quote in that story "I'll raise my daughter and have a year with her, then look to get back into football. If football is in my future, it is. I hope some day that the next time they need a head coach after Jerry, I'll be the guy."

We all know JG won't be here for 10 years, so you never know what the future holds...

Not sure I buy the whole "divided team" thing. I think Jerry's just being diplomatic rather than saying he wants to pick his own staff.

Here at Utah, when Urban Meyer was hired, he kept Kyle Wittingham as DC (despite Kyle's deep ties to the previous staff) and it was probably one of the best decisions he made in his short tenure here. Whittingham's defenses were the underrated key to the '04 BCS team. After Meyer bolted to Florida, Kyle was the obvious choice to take over.

Word is that Mouse Davis is already on campus and will be the Offensive Coordinator. Only two holdovers from the Walsh staff: Jim Craft (secondary) and another that I seem to have forgotten. And rumor is that the DC is from Hawaii....
