Coaching Update

That letter is embarrassing... you pull some stunt like that at any real football school and you'd be tarred and feathered... what a cluster fuck of leadership.

Wow, I wonder if the idea is to bring Stitt in with the idea of him becoming the next HC when CC's contract is up.

I doubt Stitt would want to do that until 2021 when the contract is up. I could see this as if Collins derps his way to a losing record early, you can fire him and have Stitt as interim coach and eat the 3 month. Then at the end of year promote Stitt. That way you can dodge the financial pitfalls and can get Stitt starting to recruit his guys.

If that's how it goes, I'm totally down.

StittHappens.

Collins would be a fool to hire Stitt. Maybe Dunn will force him, though, since he made him let go of Boyer.

It looks like Tx State might be looking at Stitt for their o.c., at least according to Bruce Feldman. I’m fine with that. What about someone like the QB coach at NDSU? I love that style of football...smash mouth football. Just line up behind the big offensive line and run the ball down the opponents throat. Stitt’s offensive line at Montana was not good.

I don't think the offensive coordinator was our problem. I think the defense and O line was our problem and the losing tone of the program these last many years. The only way to have these things fixed was to start with a new direction of the program. It is nice that we have student athletics that can do college work, but isn't that what all college students are expected to do? If you have the requirements of getting into UNC as a student then you should be able to do college work. If athletes can't do this they shouldn't be admitted to UNC in the first place. Its like we are proud that our athletes can actually do college work. Does anyone care about the GPA of our excellent band? They are part of UNC, but they are college students and are expected to do college work. The reason they have a score board in sports is to see who wins the game. If we don't care about this, then we need to give up and have club teams that play for fun on the weekends on the front lawn without a scoreboard. (I bet the math club would win the GPA award and no one would care, just like now.) I was disappointed in our administration that doesn't get the fact that we have a very poor football program and they are the ones that are responsible for this mess.

Completely agree...I'm sure the decision to put out the letter went hand in hand with the ridiculous choice to keep him around, just trying to find a way to justify keeping someone who has been completely unsuccessful.

If I failed miserably at my job, I'd be fired in a heartbeat. Just saying.

Anyone have any inside info on what is happening with the staff vacancy's? Stitte is heading to Texas State, so it will not be him taking over the offense.

I'm okay with this hire, but I'm not sure it makes us that much better. Boyer was not the problem; and I'm so confused how Wikre still has a job. If Fulton can recruit and build a solid offensive line, then of course all is well.

As usual, the UNC website and the Greeley Tribute are all over this. </sarchasm>

They were to busy checking on the GPA's of North Dakota State and Eastern Washington to see who has the better coaching staff.
