Defense: 2006 vs 2007

Our defense was a force last year. One of the best PSU had ever seen. Question for this year is can we duplicate that? With a loss of some many players can we do it? Who's the better coach on D, JG or Lupfer?

Is it just me or does the 3-4 work better in the NFL then College football? why is that?

I wish we could have kept things the same on D but you never know maybe we can improve.

How many playoff games did we get to under the old defense? Better yet, how many playoff games did we win with under the old defense? Enough said.
Only time will tell with the new staff, but its very obvious that we didnt get it done in the past.
You can look at stats only so much... with an offense that ran the ball so much and ate up the clock, no wonder our defense was ranked so high. But in the end, its all about Big Sky Championships and making the playoffs. I hope everyone agrees with that statement.

I think its success at the pro level has to do with size talent at certain positions. It is much easier to develop a fast 225 pound guy than to develop a 310 pound guy who can beat a double team. The 3-4 at the pro-level is usually comprised of 3 tackle-sized linemen, whereas at PSU, it will probably be 2 ends and a tackle.

This topic is good to kill some time, but our offense is of most interest to me. The O is what kept us out of the playoffs last year, and it is what will most likely get us in this year.
