Keep your eyes peeled for an extensive story in the Denver Post on Northern Colorado men's basketball. Chris Dempsey and photog. John Leyba stopped by practice yesterday and were there for nearly the entire session.

Dempsey said he pitched the story during a planning session earlier in the week and kind of got a lukewarm response. He then said, "They are the No. 22 team in the country, guys ... I think we need to let people know about this great story."

It's most likely to run Monday, but Chris said it could be snuck into Saturday's paper, too.

I'm just glad at least some of our local media have a grasp of how impressive the 8-1 start is.
 
That's great. Really nice of Demsey to go to bat for us. Also amazing how little the Denver media know or care about college sports outside of Boulder.
 
Thats awesome I cant wait to see the article. The Denver Post usually has a small article on every UNC bball game but never anything to gain more attention.
A couple of days ago I was listening to 104.3 The Fan and Sandy Clough was on and he was talking about college basketball in Colorado. He never mentioned UNC bball once in the radio show but he thinks the best D1 college bball team in Colorado is DU. He kept saying how DU has the best chance to make the tournament out of any college team in Colorado. I guess we will see who is the best team when DU comes to town, oh and DU and CU lost to CSU.
 
I couldn't agree with you guys more UNC doesn't get enough pub and this article should be a good read and can hopefully get some attention to the REAL team north..One thing I'm concerned about is that DU game is over winter break and I'm afraid that it we will not have the support it would have had had been during the school year...Hopefully we can pull out some these home games without a full student section...Cause we all know that over winter break Greeley becomes fairly dead..Hopefully the city will show up!

Considering we are 22nd out of roughly 200 mid-major teams, it's pretty danged good. That being said, that probably puts us in the 70's or 80's as far as "in the country" is concerned.
