I can't wait to here this from Coach Bone and the players themselves, what did the victim do to egg them on? And why Mexico..... :P

Gotta love the BSC

UNC - Stabbing
MSU - Players getting in trouble left and right
UM - Everything

And now this....

And don't forget the other Big Sky gems from this decade:

NAU - Convicted felons on the MBB team
ISU - Football team tried to kill the basketball team (I don't think anything will top that)
PSU - The current Dominguez/Morrison issue

That just leaves EWU, Weber, & Sac. Looking at Sac State's recent efforts in the big 3 sports, they might be better off adding more thugs.

What? ISU football tried to kill ISU basketball? Now that sounds like a story I've gotta hear.

Don't you remember the story a few years back where some ISU football players apparently shot at a car that contained members of the BB team? I can't find a news link online for it, but I remember there being a big story about the incident (& ISU's basketball team hiding out at a hotel or something) around the beginning of 2004.

Morrison maintains innocence.

I obviously don't have any idea if the 2 players are guilty or not, but Scott Morrison is not helping his credibility with this statement:

"Anybody who knows me knows I would never hit anybody," Morrison said. "That's always been a knock on me that I'm not aggressive enough on the court, not to mention how passive I am off the court."

There are two problems with that:

  • 1. Whether he's an aggressive player or not on the court isn't really relevant. He's using a public criticism of his playing weaknesses to try to prove his innocence. By bringing that up, he makes it sound like he's either joking around or desperate to give the public an explanation, no matter how weak.

    2. "…I would never hit anybody". Yeah, except for the time you got suspended for throwing a punch in a game. (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2347354)

Couldn't agree more. Either a very poor defense strategy, or a sound defense strategy poorly executed.

PSU players released from Mexico: Innocent, friends say

New info on the blog:

http://blog.oregonlive.com/portlandstatevikings/2008/04/morrison_meagher_speak_stories.html#more

Strange how Meagher's story has changed from him not seeing or remembering getting hit to Scott just walking up and Scott punching him.

Also, someone in his group was in a scuffle with Scott and JD, yet they have not come forward in an assault case? Scott's hand would be cut if he hit him in the face and caused that much damage. Knocked out teeth and a metal bridge missing from one punch? I've seen a few fights in my day, and any punch that hits teeth nearly always results in a badly cut hand.

Where is this person in his group? Where was the co-worker when this happened? Where is the cab driver? Where are folks that could ID Scott and JD as not being there?

Each bit of information leads to more questions.

Scott Morrison's video interview:

Interesting....

Why do I get the feeling we are very far away from this issue being done with?

The Portland media has gone to a new low with this story. The assumption of guilt was everywhere, and now they are backing off their stories. This is more publicity than the school ever gets, academic or athletic, and it's because two guys went to Spring Break and got drunk. The hypocrisy is everywhere. (gang signs=guilt, Dominguez is drunk in the photos=guilt), These two young men now have a permanent stain on their lives, whatever they go on to do. They have already gone through hell for taking this trip, why make it worse? If they are guilty, they deserve whatever comes to them, but until then somebody needs to stand behind these guys like the Duke families were willing to.

Don't forget about the WSU scandal from I believe 2005 where the NCAA got mad athletes were some how returning stuff to the bookstore and getting money and it happened over a period of a few years.

Oh and a member of the WSU 1999 team that beat North Carolina went to prison (not jail) for rape or doing illegal "activities" with a minor...I forget which but I know he was in prison at least a couple years or more.

Oh and our '99 coach had a bunch of NCAA violations and personal issues so he resigned or got the boot in 2000.

OK, well that leaves two then. Weber gets a walk so now the bases are loaded for the next offender.

I can see the headlines in July: "Federal investigation reveals Eastern Washington football team made up entirely of illegal immigrants"

And then in January: "Sac State's miracle Big Sky title run a result of illegal radioactive mutagen."

Let's remember, Morrison swung at the Montana BB player and missed. I don't think he was drunk on the court that night. He was inebriated down in Mexico and I doubt he would have hit anything but air with his swing in his state.
