Dominquez and Morrison arrested

Innocence lost
• Blogger’s no PSU player, but he’s been jailed like one

For two reasons, I think:
One, it's no longer a hot story, and their job (the Oregonian) is to sell papers, not report. And secondly, I think they realize they completely got it wrong and screwed it up from the first few hours. They are (or should be) thoroughly embarassed.

Really interesting. I wish more people had thought this way immediately after the incident. I point back to my comment earlier on this topic. We should stand behind Viking athletes until something is proven against them. If they are found guilty, by all means reprimand them.

Basketball Suspensions Lifted

From the athletic department:

The Portland State Athletics Department has removed the temporary basketball team suspension of players Jeremiah Dominguez and Scott Morrison, allowing them full participation in any PSU basketball-related activities.

Dominguez and Morrison were temporarily suspended from the team earlier this month for consideration of a possible violation of the student-athlete conduct code after media reports that they had been arrested in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Both Dominguez and Morrison were released from jail without charges.

After reviewing the incident, there appears to be no evidence against them of involvement, so the athletic department sees no reason to continue the suspensions.

Athletic director Torre Chisholm in the Oregonian:

As we looked at it, there was no evidence and no reason for us to continue the suspensions. I think it's a shame for them -- what they've had to go through, and hopefully they're getting some closure on everything that has happened.

I feel sorry for Meagher, someone did beat the sh-t out of him but I am glad the truth has come out and that our guys weren't involved. Now hopefully we can put this behind us and focus on working to get back to the NCAAs this year AND winning in the first round.
