The EWU game is PSU National Title game every year! We are to them what Montana was to us just a few years ago. Our season was made by beating Montana, well now PSU season is made by beating us! We can expect their best game every year and we have to play well or we are going to lose!

And for my bold prediction...Undefeated National Champions!!! VA wins the Payton Award and Kupp is in the top five voting for Payton award!

Its a Great time for us Eagles!

Totally disagree with everything you've said. We will have an awesome team but will not go undefeated. VA will not win the Walter Payton award, but Cooper Kupp just might.

Very bold prediction.

Just noticed that Weber isn't on the schedule. Good, in my opinion. They always feel like that underdog team that will pop you in the mouth for not taking them seriously.

Weber will likely be terrible at least for another year. The league has done Eastern no favors with scheduling year after year. We have badly placed bye weeks and the worst conference team always seems to elude us. We didn't play Idaho State two years ago and missed No Colorado this last year. By pattern, I expect Weber to be a whopping 1-11 next season.

Aye, I've only got Weber for two games. Wasn't saying they were any good, just I never like playing them. We don't seem to ever really clobber them like the terrible team they are.

I could not believe we couldn't beat them worse than we did last year. They were absolutely hapless on both sides of the ball. We played them during that run of games where we weren't playing very well.

In all fairness, we didn't have to play Sac and NAU the last two years and they were both pretty solid, we also avoid Cal Poly this year (or I guess they avoid us)....

We've ripped Cal Poly two straight. They weren't even really in the game against us either time. Could be wrong, but I don't think they've beaten Eastern since the Paul Wulff era. 2005, I believe. Not sure that's the game we want off the schedule. Even Sac State--- though they typically play Eastern tough--- hasn't actually beaten Eastern since the 2007 debacle.

It was 2008, Baldwin's first year.

Sat Aug 23 Sam Houston State - too much fire power and electricity to lose this one. (W)
Sat Aug. 30 Montana Western - glorified scrimmage. (W)
Sat Sep. 6 at Washington - UW lost a lot, EWU will hang tough, but too many weapons. (L)
Sat Sep. 20 at Montana St. - MSU will be down, but still a tough road game. Close game. (W)
Sat Sep. 27 at UC Davis * - Davis could be a sleeper this year, but not ready for the big boys. (W)
Sat Oct. 4 Idaho St. * - EWU rolls. (W)
Sat Oct. 11 at Southern Utah * - Bad memories of the last trip to Cedar City will motivate. (W)
Sat Oct. 18 Northern Colo. * - Homecoming...Enough said. (W)
Sat Oct. 25 at Northern Ariz. * - May end up being the toughest road game of the season. (W)
Sat Nov. 1 North Dakota * - Back on track. (W)
Sat Nov. 8 Montana * - EWU goes to 3-0 on the Inferno against the Griz. (W)
Sat Nov 22 Portland State - Always plays us tough, PSU is improving. (Toss Up)

I really think this team is good enough to go 11-1, barring major injuries. Because odd things always seem to happen, I think 10-2 is most likely, however 11-1 wouldn't be a shock. 12-0 is very difficult for anyone, especially in a 12 game season. This team has the capability to go all way...2014 National Champs? Time will tell.

GO EAGS!! :thumb:

Need to see evidence that the defense is improved to make them a Nat Title contender.

Two years in row couldn't get a stop in the 4th qtr to get to the champ game.

3 out of 4 years in semis. Not many programs can say that. Nice problem to have.

Agreed.

As for predictions:
-We will go 10-2 in the regular season
-Adams will win the Payton Award
-Our defense will struggle early on but get better towards to middle of the year
-We'll make the semi's

Amen brother!

12-0
It is tough to predict a win over a Pac 12 team. It will come down to how well the Huskies are prepared for the Eagles. They will have two games of tape on us and it will be their first game. Lots of turmoil in the Husky program with a new coaching staff and all. We know the Eagles will be prepared for the Huskies.
Offense- Our offense is what it is ... AWESOME
Defense- We have a LOT of young talent and the stability of experienced and very good upper class-men. We will surprise a lot of teams with our shut down D
Go Eagles

I will go with 9-3; UW, Sam Houston, and Montana games will be tough.
\NO,NO,NO Sam Houston game will not be what it was in the past. Coach Keeler, will not be running that awful triple option, slant, pitch, speed sweep that we had so much trouble with. (What ever it was called)
They will be a solid ball team but no better than any of the BS upper level teams.

I think we'll beat them, but it won't be an easy game. Despite the changes in coaching and schemes, they still have a lot of speed on that team.

I am going with 9-3 for now. my big question is with the defensive line and cb's.

Losing Pulu and Katoa off the D-Line and Lee, Baines, and Schuetzle in the secondary are big losses, but I think we have the athletes waiting in the wings.

EAGS 11-1. After watching the scrimmage Saturday I am confident the EAGS will sweep the BSC this year. It will be hard to beat UW there, but it wouldn't surprise me if the EAGS win a close one in Seattle. As for the Big Sky, NAU and PSU will be hard fought road wins. The Montana schools pose not threat. My mole in Missoula reports the GRIZ look mediocre and quite SOFT on the defensive side. :D

You should never rely on a mole for your information, as they have very poor eyesight.

Defensively we have been swarming to the ball and tackling extremely well - something we did not do well last season. This year the defense is much faster and more disciplined than we saw last year. Question is, will we be able to keep up the intensity going into the fall (i.e. the secondary stepping up)? I hope so... :thumb:

Good post. I look forward to seeing what the Grizzlies have put together this year. I believe next year (if the injury bug keeps away from us) the Grizzlies are the only Big Sky team with a chance of snubbing us for the championship.
