Eastern @ Cal Poly Game Day Thread

Well we won and the players left everything out on the field that they had to get that win and i am proud. I don't know what's going on especially this late in the season but something doesn't seem right. I do know we don't look like a polished team. We need a new polisher.
*Way to fight boys cause the win does feel good (allthough it cost me $100)

It was a win. Eastern doesn't get many "lucky" wins like this. Penalties 8 - 90 yds all seemed to keep a drive alive, many were in or near the redzone.. THREE TO's two on the last drives as Ranger pointed out. In spite of the mental breakdowns on both sides of the ball; Eagles got a win, on the road, in a late game. By any standard, this was CP getting all the breaks.

For the players, rest up, enjoy the win, smile that you got lucky in the end and the other guy didn't. It's a game.

If that was a playoff game instead of a game involving a 5-5 team, I think my heart would've stopped.

Ultimately, Cal Poly rode their luck all night with penalties and turnovers and the luck ran out with the missed FG. Eastern simply cannot ever play that sloppy. The defense looked like they didn't want to be there all night, but suddenly rose up and made that stop on the last drive. The offense was dynamite all night, and completely fell apart in the 4th quarter. Weird game.

By the way, Eastern's special teams might be as bad as I've ever seen. Our FG and XP kicking is decent. Kickoff and punt returns are scary bad though. Punting and punt coverage is like a box of chocolates.

Never seen such a bad special teams play EVER let alone EWU. Could find a soccer player that could punt better than that, very disappointing !

Add our kickoff coverage. The worst I have seen from an EWU team.

Heath Pulver is special teams coordinator.

I've mentioned this before...Pulver is a special teams coordinator, we need a special teams COACH! He does a great job coaching the Tight Ends and probably as a team we don't either spend as much time on special teams or don't have the personnel.

How in the HELL did the game end 42-41? Last time I checked on Saturday Eastern had a comfortable lead. Is there any place that the game can be re-watched? Thanks, GoEags!

That would be called a nightmare, why would you want that?

Do yourself a favor, and don't.

How did it happen? Fairly simple. Eag offense scores quickly. Mustangs are a run, run, and run again ball team that wears down defenses methodically, flips in a pass and scores. Second Half, Eags find themselves under the gun, a couple critical dropped passes, and three big fumbles. Finally, a minute left the Eags finally catch a positive break, short Mustang field goal attempt goes wide. Disappointing game, but Eags never gave up!

The Mustangs only scored 25 points per game in their previous 9 games. Why did the Eagles get more tired than all the other teams?

The Eagle Defense was on the field 75% of the time in this game confronting mostly run plays. CP's previous games are not a factor.
