2 weeks off, home cooking, cold weather game against a southern team....this has the making of an absolute thumping
They are a conference champ albeit the Southland who beat Kansas this season. Unless you are NDSU don't take any team too lightly in the playoffs. I remember the year the Grizzlies hosted Costal Carolina and thought those southern boys wouldn't be able to handle the cold in Msla. Humbling experience for the Griz.

I was just thinking about that the other day. Never safe to assume someone else can't handle the weather. Montana got bitchslapped that day.

I'm sure the coaches are telling the players to be prepared for the best guys they've played against all year. While I doubt this happens, the WORST thing that can happen is for guys to think this is some sort of gimme. This needs to be all hands on deck. Because playoffs.

I don't want the team looking past this Nicholls team either. Many reasons to be confident.

The Leave No Doubt mantra has been a good one this season and the players were super motivated to finish strong during the regular season, it's easy to see them let down a little now that it is over and the co-championship has been achieved if this was a young team. So many of the seniors were on the field when they lost to Youngstown two years ago it is hard to see them forgetting that feeling, ever.

Additionally, they are facing the need to win the BigSky all over again assuming UC Davis win to the quarters and Weber to the semi's.

Everyone saw the lower playoff teams play last week and should have a better idea of just how tough the BigSky was this year in comparison. This coaching staff has really grown throughout the season as well and I think it's safe to assume they have their fingers on the pulse of the team.

Lots of team leadership, experience and talent will see this team through any contest against lesser competition as evidenced all season long. They haven't played down to the competition, they've played up to their ability and that is all I ever wanted to see from players and coaches. Go Eags!

I think you have a really good point in there, Lucky. I feel there have been years when EWU was susceptible to playing up and down to opponents.

And that has not at all been part of their identity this year. With the exception of the Weber game they have played consistently at a high level. I haven’t worried at any point about let downs or trap games, etc.

And I don’t worry about that this weekend either. My lack of any useable knowledge of how good Nicholls really is leaves me with some reservations. But I do know that if this is a close game it’ll be because Nicholl’s Brought their A game and threw the whole book at us. Not because our guys didn’t show up.

I anticipate a solid win but I’m not putting my life savings on it.

For the Last Chance U viewers who do not know, Ronald Ollie plays for Nicholls State.

"The affable defensive tackle played for FCS program Nicholls State in 2016, recording 41 tackles (6.5 for loss) and two sacks. He has since been granted his release, and has one year of eligibility remaining in his college playing career. He was unable to find a place to compete on the FBS level and will return to Nicholls for his final season of eligibility in 2018"

Finally got the chance to watch the Nicholls vs SD game. EWU has Nicholls outmatched in pretty much every category.

The key to victory lies with our Linebackers and defensive line. Fourcade is nothing to scoff at. San Diego lost when they let Nicholls gash them with on the ground. If our d-line can't stop Nicholls runningback crew, and we need to bring more players into the box to stuff the run, Fourcade is more than capable of punishing the defense through the air. If we can stuff the run without sacrificing the secondary, we will easily control the game.

Easier said than done. Dontrell Taylor is averaging 7.5 yards per carry.
