EWU @ Weber State Game Day Thread

When you’re playing a young, inexperienced Qb you have to establish the run. We haven’t been able to do that yet. We’ve gotta get that run game going. The defense can only do so much.

Barriere is really struggling, and just seems to be getting worse. Might be time to pull the plug. At the very least you need to have a conversation with him about whether he's up for this. We can't win with him playing like he is. They're just stacking the box and daring us to throw and we can't make simple plays.

offensive play calling is poo poo..

Agreed. Passing when we should be running, and running when we should be passing. Pretty ugly display of play calling.

my thoughts exactly... D is playing faster now. K Williams and Mitchell are the bomb at DE today..

And yet we’re only down by 11. The D has played really well save one series. I think we’ll get something going here after halftime.

I thought he looked a little better in the 2nd quarter. Aready mentioned, but the play calling has left a little to be desired, IMO. Throwing over the top with plenty of time left on the clock when it hasn’t been there all day.

I think EB3 just needs to start making some plays with his legs.

Yup. The D has only surrendered 7 points. I think they’ll continue to play well. We just need to make a few plays on offense and we’re right back in this game. Stopping them on their 1st series and scoring on them right off the bat would swing the mo.

We aren't making them play sideline to sideline.. no fly sweeps with our speed or the quick flat routes that we used on the one good drive, which opened up the off tackle run. Why get away from what worked. Barriere isn't seeing it well today so take the decisions out of his hands for the most part and lean on the experience you have out there in OL, RB and WR's... Barriere has had a few oppty's to run for first downs and hasn't. What's the point of a read option if the QB can't read the DE or won't keep if he is reading the DE correctly.. (this last bit was rhetorical)

Yes, we need to find a way to just get the ball to our playmakers because we have them all over the field. Eric’s made some really bad reads so far so let’s try some high completion stuff to get his confidence up. That and let’s get running the ball better.

Bottom line, QB play has beem poor. If you’re going to start at QB for Eastern Washington you need to make some plays. Right now Weber’s just stacking the box and daring Berriere to make a play. He needs to play better or let’s see what Qb3 can do.

The people blaming Eric for the faltering offense have apparently been ignoring our horrible offensive line play.
